spoiler How do non-unicorns put on wedding rings?

I want to say something but I would probably banned so I am going with the sfw alternative

The rings go on their tails therefore AJ is actually a widow

The thing on AJ's tail is a red ribbon, signifying that she's a kicker horse as that's how they sorted them for horse breeding for horse races. There are also runners which are blue or green, and one other I can't think of.

Well, even the less "pure" gold is still made of 75% of gold, so the minimum density would be 16.5g/cm3 for that 18 karat gold, which would still give us 2475 grams. Still heavy enough. And you have to remember, if we take that the animals in MLP are of similar size to the ones we have here, those ponies are still pretty small, and after the breezies, the ponies are one of the smallest living species in Equestria.

sig-3868587.gold%20ring.jpg

this weighs 325g and its 95% pure gold

and its pretty close to 5cm high, 1cm thick and the circumference for it is of approximately 30 cm

source http://vikingmetalwork.blogspot.com/2013/02/ring-bling-huge-viking-gold-arm-ring.html

if we have two of them it will be more than, 5cm high, 1cm thick and the circumference for it is of approximately 30 cm

and it will weigh 650g

 add another one and and it weighs 975g still less than a kilo

  • Color: Yellow
  • Metal: 14k yellow gold
  • Finish: High polish
  • Metal weight: 0.74
  • Bracelet dimensions: 4 mm wide x 8 inches long

so yeah youre prolly using the wrong equation for jewelry weight

The little finger would approximately be around 1cm thick. Sorry, but there's no way this thing is anywhere close to the thing I'm imagining. If it weighs 325 grams and it's really 95% gold, so 23-ish karats, it would be at around 18cm3 volume. My hoof ring is at 150cmvolume, which is 8.3 times more volume.

I should be ashamed of myself, but I'm fairly certain I know exactly what you were thinking! Seriously though, I think that the different types of ponies all have their own wedding traditions.

ok arguments sake lets say youre right

i still see a problem to your hoof ring

5cm high is too large but ok ,1cmwide?this is the main problem normal ring thickness is 1.8-2mm,  30cm circumference no prob here

also im interested on how you got 150cm3

V = π r 2 h is the formula for cylinders  and it looks like you used L x W x H

I thought of the horseshoes too! Now I wish I'd posted that so that congratulatory praise could've been mine. ):<

Edit: Also, awesome, I didn't know the kicker thing.

Yeah I kinda did it quickly at home, putting 30 5cm3 blocks in a circle. Actually, with the correct formulas, it would give me... a whopping 487 cm3. But I agree, 1cm thick is way too thick, so I did the same equation with 0.5cm for a more realistic ring, which gave me approximately 240cm3. Still an extremely heavy wedding ring, topping over 4 kilos for a 22 karat gold ring.

Hoof rings, son, they go around the hoof.

With my calculations a hoof ring could go well over 3 kilograms depending on the gold's purity.

@@MCAsomm,

there is clearly something wrong here

ok hear me out on this

they sell gold bracelets and bangles  2cm wide or higher

and most dont even reach 100g

and arguably bracelets and bangles could be worn as a hoof ring

if we could get a jewelers opinion about this or brony who likes jewelry over here it would help alot

~~~~~~~~~~
so i did some research
sig-3871096.sig-3871096.a_celtic_solid_g
A CELTIC SOLID GOLD BRACELET
IRON AGE, CIRCA 1000 B.C.
3¾ in. (9.5 cm.) diam. max.; weight 599.3 g.
source -http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/ancient-art-antiquities/a-celtic-solid-gold-bracelet-iron-age-5673398-details.aspx
as we can see here it is quite heavy and not wearable
while we have this modern monstrosity
$_57.JPG
22K SOLID GOLD DIAMOND CUT BANGEL BRACELET
2 4/16 inches in diameter and 18cm wide weighing only 35.8 grams
as we can see here is also quite thick
 source -http://www.ebay.com/itm/22K-SOLID-GOLD-DIAMOND-CUT-BANGEL-BRACELET-35-8-GRAMS-GORGEOUS-/111697602079
so yeah gold is heavy as you say but modern goldsmiths have found a way to make it wearable even if its quite large
i dont know what jewelry skills they have in equestria so i cant say for sure if they can wear gigantic hoofrings
but we can do so here in the human world
if anyone can come up with a wearable hoof ring i found this nifty volume calculator web app to help you
http://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-solids/tube.php
use r1 = radius (circumference)
t = thickness
h = height
i used
r1 - 4.8cm (30cm cicumference)
t- 0.5 cm
h-4cm
V = 57.177cm3 x 15.5g (18karat)
= 886.2435g
almost a kilo but with a few changes a wearable hoof ring can be done
I guess they put it on whatever else sticks out from their bodies like that  :unsure:
.... That does seem like a reasonable answer though.
I would think they wore a ring on their hoof or a bow or whatevs.
