Does replicating food you ate out ever taste as good?

I'm sure that many have haad a yummy meal at a restaraunt or fast food place, then tried to make the same thing at home, only to find that for whatever reason, in spite of having the same ingredients, it just doesn't taste as awesome as the food you ate out?

Take, for instance, you eat at Red Lobster, and go to town on their delectable cheddar bay biscuits, then find a brand name box of that biscuit mix, in the store, later, make them at home, and are left bitterly disappointed.

Does replicating food at home ever end well for you guys?

I have only done this once with chipotle burritos and they surpringly came out very close to the actual thing.  Its pretty easy to find people who have done it before on the internet and post somewhere about it so its pretty easy to replicate meals from chain restaurants

Nope, tried replicating a Whopper from burger king and didn't exactly go as well. It tasted good, but not exactly as well. Another time is when I tried to replicate Taco Bell's tacos, the shells broke the moment you held it. :(

Food I make never seems to be as good as any restaurant place. My cooking skills are amateurish at best. :P I have noticed that making french fries that tastes just as good as any fast food place is really difficult for me. .-.

I can replicate an egg mcmuffin pretty well, but then again they're not exactly anything special. It's just an egg, slice of processed cheese, an english muffin and some kind of meat. Pan fried kielbasa is something I think McDonalds should consider, it tastes freaking amazing on one of those muffins

Oh gosh, Kielbasa is positively amazing on breakfast sandwiches. I finally got the chance to try it a few days ago, way better than regular ham or bacon. It's especially good on a bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and lettuce.

If it's something I like enough, I'll replicate it and then change it to better suit my tastes. I'm a good cook, so it usually turns out better after a few rounds of trying.

I think my favorite is the Zuppa Tuscana from Olive Garden, because while they're on to a good idea, most of the time Olive Garden food is lackluster at best. I use spicy sausage and heavy cream, add some red pepper flakes for a bit of a kick and it turns out fantastic.

I also bought a rice cooker so I could make bubble tea at home. Cost Plus World Market sells a really nice Thai tea. I then use a homemade simple syrup to sweeten it. I can make about 20 pitchers for about the price of two cups bought out.

Well, if it's a meal from a posh restaurant then chances are I wouldn't even attempt to gather all the ingredients that I would need. Too many random obscure things that I wouldn't have just laying around at home on a regular basis. If I had the exact recipe then I could give it a try. However, I've been to enough average pub restaurants where I just say 'yeah, I could do so much better than this'.

I'm not a medical expert, psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher or love doctor. Take my words with a pinch of salt, yeah?

I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.

It doesn't depend on the ingredients alone, but also the method of making and the skill of the cook.

If you don't have a similar quality pan for instance, lower quality counterparts might rub off some aftertaste, or they can reduce the quality of the meal and remove some of its taste on it's own.

Also, the cook's gotta know how to make the food; it obviously ain't gonna make itself, so it also depends on how you're good with making said meal.

I guess if you can replicate the exact materials, AND tools, AND recipe, you're gonna get the same meal.

I never really tried replicating fast foods, but my mom has tried a few times and I think what she made was better than what the original fast food was.

My parents recently went to some asian cafe and tried a really tasty meal. Layer mom tried to replicate it and on the second try she made the dish that tastes even better
