How many of these bands are actually from the progressive rock era in the 70's? They all seem pretty recent. I guess decades aren't important as long as the music fits the bill.

Science is boring, I prefer history. I'm way too kvlt to be an egghead, all I did was download Opeth's discography and put in my iPod. And the only reason Mastodon appeals to me is because they're sludge metal.

I don't think I've ever listened to it, and I doubt I'd like it more than progressive rock. Prog rock is definitely my favorite genre of music.

You like 70's era Progressive Rock? You should so listen to some of Steven Wilson's solo works, one thing that I can tell ya about his music, is that he definitely did his homework on the genre.

As Hansel hinted, and I agree, there's no arguing that Pink Floyd is the best progressive rock band. So having more Pink Floyd in this thread wouldn't hurt...

I've only ever listened to Pink Floyd, Rush, and King Crimson. So far out of those three I like Pink Floyd the best. And I'm glad that you liked the Steven Wilson song, that one's probably my favorite track from his newest album.

I like Mastodon and Opeth as well (though you already would suspect that) glad to see you become an egghead go a little bit outside of your usual

I'm probably in the minority here, in that I've never really listened to Rush. For some reason, I've never thought of them as being Progressive; they've always seemed more Classic to me.
