One logical thing that Luna can't do...

Okay so after watching all the episodes until "Do Princesses dream of magic sheep?" I just realized somethin that Luna isn't doing, but she can technically do it. If  Luna controls the Moon and Stars, she should still be able to control the Sun because technically its a star, am I right?

I don't think the stars are included in her abilities as far as I know. Only the moon. Maybe perhaps in dreams she can control everything but only there. Now Celestia, she might be a bit more concerning. Never thought about her control over other stars. :P

Starswirl had her practicing to move the stars, in the Journal of the two Sisters

Which Megan confirmed as canon

Ah, never read that, hence why I did not know of it. Rather...interesting. I would love to see some sort of flashback of this in the show.

You should take these words with a grain of salt, because alot of the stuff that was said in every other canon, was destroyed by the show (see the comics.)

The only true absolute canon, is the show itself.

Comics have established that Luna is capable of raising the sun, like her sister did the moon. She's not very good at it, though.

So far, though, nothing has been shown that Princess Luna can move the stars. In fact, the Journal of the Alicorn Sisters pretty much states right out that Luna hasn't been able to as of yet.

And, thus far, nothing in show canon that confirms she can, either.

Perhaps what makes Celestia's control over the sun so special is that it's the closest one and it actually brings light to the world.  Luna, meanwhile, is in charge of bringing forth the darkness so that the world can rest.  In my opinion, merely a matter of efficiency.

I thought it was common knowledge by now

Bu I doubt we'll see it in an episode, thanks to Habro shooting themselves in the foot by not keeping stories to episodes only, and essentially ensuring a lenghtier franchise with more episode potential. Instead, they throw what could've been great episodes into comcs and chapter books, journal entries, etc.

Because the show is something different entirely. This is not the Celestia and Luna Show. This is the show about 6 friends, with occasional appearance of the CMC and they all share a common theme. Friendship.

I don't think she can move the stars. If it says so in any second tier canon, its bull, because that would make her way to OP.

The reason we can see stars is because they are the brightest thing in the darkness of the sky, or vice versa. They aren't the brightest thing in say, a modern city, or when the sun is up.

Would it be too hard to believe that the stars simply appear visible when the moon comes up because its darker.
