I'm cautiously optimistic with this game. On one hand, it is really exciting to battle with other people in the real world. It's also amazing to see how much the franchise has evolved. But on the other hand, I'm not expecting anything too special. Even if it looks nice, I do hope Nintendo knows what they're doing as it is an ambitious game. I'm also a little peeved by how the game seemingly only has Kanto Pokemon, but that doesn't really ruin my excitement that much.

 

Let's hope Nintendo pours a lot of effort into Pokemon Go, because I would definitely download this if it turns out to be a success.

To be honest, I think Pokémon Go will fail hard. It will probably become popular just because it's Pokémon, but it's just not going to work. First off, the trailer is far from what the game is going to be like. I have played Ingress myself, (the game PkGo is inspired by) and I can say that there are three major problems with these kind of games:

 

1. To get some enjoyment from such a game, it requires you to be around other people playing the same game. Sure you can find enjoyment in walking around and catch Pokémon but trading and battling with other people is what would make it the most fun. I was so annoyed when I played Ingress for example cause there was no one around where I lived playing the game so I had nothing to do. I mean the city I was in is like among the top 10 biggest cities in Sweden and still there were only like 5 people on. So basically you need to live in like a huge city for this to be fun.

 

2. It takes much time and effort. Things just take too long time and people are lazy. Very few people will actually go outside just to play the game and even if you are outside in the first place, you're probably not going to want to play it since you are doing something else. It'll just be one of those games you pick up when you are sitting outside being extremely bored.

 

3. Since these games use GPS to know your position, battery life is a huge issue. If you thought "no I'd play it all the time" when you read my previous point, you're going to see what I mean. Which of you people have played Ingress? If you have, you will know that Ingress EATS your battery. Playing Ingress is like using Temple Run, Google Maps and Google Navigation at the same time.

 

If this worksout, this will make Nintendo even richer.

I've seen the trailer for this game and I suspect it is a bit misleading. However, it would be cool to actually capture Pokémon WHILE walking around outside. Though it may seem strange to others nearby you. And if there will be events like in the trailer that will require a huge amount of players... well good luck finding a group that size. I know I would never find one. Also since this game has to be on all the time, I suspect it will eat away the battery.

 

At the very least the game will actually make you go outside and explore.

 

Overall an interesting game that I would at least like to try out... if I had a system other than my phone which does not any space at all and a locked up SD card and is not powerful at all.

Not as hyped for this as I want to be to be honest. I mean, the concept sounds absolutely awesome, it sounds like a childhood dream that is in reality somewhat. I am just unsure if it will even come close to that though. I really hope it is not just some cheap mobile cash in. I wanna battle with a Gengar in the streets of my town. :c I wonder if it will come with a feature where the moment you walk by another trainer, you have to fight them.

I think it will be like, you can just catch certain pokemon at certain time at certain places. I kinda hope that the terrain also plays a role, but that might be a bit too much to ask.
