Why does pro misanthropy fan fics get so much hate?

 

If you are on fimfiction these stories tend to get a massive red dislike bar. If you write stories about your hate for humanity, you tend to get a lot of haters, it's true.

 

Pro misanthropy, as in stories which preach pony superiority (bonus points all the ponies are good and pure) and depict the entire human race as evil warlike fascist savages or something.

 

Topped off with the ponies killing all the 'evil' humans being considered a good thing.

 

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand to read such stories myself. But I want other opinions other than my own.

Because, as said before, such stories are often very poorly written, filled with contradictions (ponies killing humans being fine, for instance. That goes directly against the whole morality that is perceived as superior by such writers) and their attempt at being edgy is laughable at best.

 

That's not to say people shouldn't write stories like this. Aside from it being wish fulfillment for some, it's very possible to write a misanthropic story and do it well. I haven't come across any, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

This, pretty much. Also, I'd say being ridiculously out-of-character has something to do with it too. Why would a peaceful race of magical friendship horses go on a genocidal rampage?

 

And probably because they're stories about why humans suck. The reader, being human, might be biased against that.

1. It's not rare that ponies literally become humans. They're racist, violent, criminal and think they're superior to anyone. Even when its alternate universe, its awful to see ponies like that.

Yes, they also have ruthless conmen and cheaters, but at least no stone cold killers.

 

2. People cant handle the fact that we are horrible people and it annoys them when ponies get rid of us. Lets face it, we are monsters. We preach benevolence, turn around and kill/opress others in the name of god, for example. We're beyond redemption. Look at this world today and nothing has really changed and it never will. We are careless, malicious locusts.

There are people out there who are actually trying in their best effort to contribute positively to the world (whether the contribution is big or small, all counts), and personally I would think it is not very fair to these people if someone just generalize and say all humans are evil by nature.

 

 

 

On a side note, a common argument from misanthropes for people doing good deeds without any apparent physical benefit is how they "feel good" which in turn makes them evil and selfish. This argument is flawed for the following reasons

 

- This argument is based on the assumption that humans are evil by nature, and doing evil deeds bring them pleasure while good deeds will not bring them pleasure but perhaps much suffering. This is the point that is suppose to be proven in the first place, using it as argument is equivalent to making an unsupported assertion. Besides that, there is a logical fallacy underneath, merging the wording for good deeds and bad deeds together for confusion.

- The whole point of good deeds is to bring short or long term positive energy and pleasure to the receiving side. If a deed brings only negativity and suffering, it is not a good deed to begin with.

 

 

 

In conclusion, I would not have much issue with these fan fiction as people have a right to their own beliefs, as long as they do not take it to the next level (i.e. Active Terrorism) at the expense of others.
