So as many of you have heard from the SDCC panel this year, Fluttershy has a brother and he would appear soon.  Given the titles of the season so far, something like Brotherhooves Social would make perfect sense for him to arrive in but the synopsis so far states it's about Apple Bloom and Big Macintosh (To which I say YES ABOUT TIME!) but that begs the question, when will Fluttershy's brother make his appearance?

 

To that I say there are three likely outcomes:

1) He does appear in Brotherhooves Social, just a minor character or subplot in the overall episode. I think this unlikely as it would seem to gloss over a new family member of the Mane 6 we haven't ever seen before

 

2) He'll appear in another episode this season. Most likely case but there are currently only 6 episodes without synopsis attached to them and by process of elimination, I say it's safe to rule out the finale two-parter, (Unlikely but there is a scene I would love for them to do but more on that later)  What About Discord? (Discord based episode more than likely)  and The Mane Attraction (given that one's the Lina Hall episode) 

So the most likely episodes for him to appear in are Scare-Master and The Hooffields and McColts.  Given that Scare Master is a Halloween/Nightmare Night episode, I find it unlikely he's appear in that one as well as the latter episode referencing one of America's most well-know family feuds, making it more likely to telegraph the state of Fluttershy and her brother's relationship.

 

3) He won't appear this season.  In the panel Andrea Libman stated we'll see Fluttershy's brother soon, not that we will see him in season 5.  Honestly the one I hope for. Not to say I wouldn't mind seeing him, but we only have 6 episodes left and I would like to see Fluttershy get her own solo episode this season and having her brother in the mix sounds like it would get more of the Mane 6 involved (similar to Maud Pie) so I'd rather it be delayed until the next season.

 

Of course I have a dark desire to see at the very end of the season 5 finale there to be the mastermind behind Starlight Glimmer and all the things that have happened up until this point in the series and it be reveled to be Fluttershy's brother working with whatever the opposite of the Tree of Harmony is and saying everything is going according to plan and that season 6 will be about him fighting his sister and the rest of the Mane 6. (0 to 1,000,000,000,000,000 odd I know, but I really like the Yin-Yang, Cain Abel sort of storyline idea)

 

Anyways when do you think we'll get to see Fluttershy's brother?

Ah, did not read that particular synopsis. Sounds kinda lame to be honest, would have preferred that somehow be the episode with Brother of ze Flutter. I am quite excited to see him as well. I mean, what is he even gonna be like? The world, neigh, the entire Poniverse must know!

If he doesn't appear in Brotherhooves Social than I think Fluttershy's brother will appear in either Scare Master (which due to it's similarity to the title of Stare Master, I think will be a Fluttershy episode) or What about Discord since they seem to be the only episodes right now that I can think of being Fluttershy focused.

1."Scaremaster" since "StareMaster" was about Fluttershy so this one could be about her brother.

2. :"What about Discord?" Because Discord and Fluttershy are inseparable and his episodes are always shared with Fluttershy. And is about time Discord starts to meet her family. Perhaps even her mom will appear?

Here's hoping for some family background for Fluttershy.  This will leave Scootaloo as The Most Mysterious, followed closely by Rainbow Dash.

 

But, one thing I'm hoping for.  To get Fluttershy's family's reaction to Dash knocking her to her death (in Cutie Mark Chronicles, she was only saved by a miracle)

It would be OK with me, if, even though he's a nice guy and loves his sister, that he is the "favorite" of the family and the conflict is Flutters doesn't talk with her folks much because she feels like he gets all the attention. She thinks they think she's a disappointment because they do nothing but heap on praise him for being a great pegasus, while she's sitting there on the ground, living like an Earth pony... It would certainly explain why we've never seen them until now.

Mostly because Discord is a secondary cast member and would not generally be paired up with a newly introduced character that has potential to become a secondary cast member themselves but true it does not rule out the possibility.

Brotherhoove Social and ScareMaster no longer have possibility to be about her brother. It is most likely that "What about Discord?" is the episode where Fluttershy need to deal with her brother and Discord at the same time.

 

Also Discord is starting to become a focused character like Spike. He can have his own episodes about secondary characters. Her brother is nothing more than Smooze or Tree Hugger character.
