I would say Rainbow Rocks, Friendship Games, then the Original

I agree with this (That is, if you mean Rainbow rocks as number 1 and the original as last) The first one never really appealed to me, but rainbow rocks and friendship games did, I enjoyed them both. The only thing that rainbow rocks has over friendship games for me is the music. I t was just so much better than FG

Friendship Games is by far the best. It has an interesting plot, and best of all there is nearly no Flash Sentry! SciTwi makes for the most interesting antagonist in the Equestria Girls series, as she has genuinely good intentions and does not realize the harm she is causing with her research, which makes her very sympathetic compared to the generic "take over the world" motivations of the other villains. I rate it 8/10.

Equestria Girls is the second best. It was an interesting idea at the time, but relies too much on clichés and has a few plot holes that prevent it from being amazing. 6/10.

Rainbow Rocks is my least favorite because of how predictable it is: I had a pretty good idea of what would happen before I even started watching, and by the 15 minute mark I had made a near-perfect prediction of everything else that would happen in the movie. This makes it quite boring to watch, as there is no suspense or intrigue. It deserves a 4/10.

Also, I really like Cloudchaser's mane!

How would I rate the Equestria Girls movies??????

  1. The Friendship Games (I might need to make a blog post to explain myself, once I calm down a little. I'll admit that I'm a total fanboy towards this film... Don't even ask me about Sci-Twi)
  2. Rainbow Rocks (It was... Better than the first I guess)
  3. Equestria Girls (Felt like a cheap cash-in on franchises like Monster High, from Hasbro's rival, Mattel)

Rainbow Rocks:  I knew I was going to prefer this movie before I saw Friendship Games. I wanted to love Friendship Games more, but I think DHX really topped themselves off here. And no Friendship Games is not a bad special, I will get to that. Rainbow Rocks has the better following.

+Concept being the battle of bands

+Better Villains

+I thought the human ponies gave their best performances in the movie.

+Twilight wasn't the heroine for once. Sunset Shimmer needed to evolve and take action.

+Welcome to the show had build up, because of the tournament for the battle of the bands.

+Do I need to even mention Sonata Dusk?  What do YOU know about good fruit punch!?

+ I liked all the songs, and even if I listen to more over the other... The quality of the songs speak for themselves.

-It is a simple story compared to the third special. This has been done before.

-Some who are Aria fans... Doomed like Chrysalis and Sombra fans never got more screen time with their favorite character.

Friendship Games:

+ Even though the beginning dragged, the climax was well worth my time. I actually will be honest and say this is kind of better than the sirens vs our heroines, More was at stake.

+ The games were fun to watch, and we see that the HuMane 5 don't care about winning, it's all in good fun.

+ I only loved two songs. Rainbow Dash's prep rally speech and Unleash the Magic. Intro music was medicore.

+Snips and Snails were not in the story.

+Cadence and Shining Armor after waiting two movies.

+Midnight Sparkle. We finally see what Twilight could have been in FiM, if she wasn't taught the magic of friendship through her friends in the pilot to season 1.

- Human Twilight wasn't well developed, it felt contrived just having her going around sucking magic through each pony.

-Spike talking in my opinion was done so Cathy had a reason to be involved.

-Pinkie wasn't that funny. Except during the party cannons scene.

-The games don't start until after the 30 minute mark and the friendship games to me felt like a plot device so that we could have Midnight Sparkle appear. The Battle of The Bands mattered in RR, because it was a battle for the student body and possibly the ponies back in Equestria. The friendship games are merely a conduit to have an epic fight scene at the end.

-Principal Cinch.. Is the worst villain, she barely meets the standards of what a villain in this franchise should be.

Equestria Girls:

+ Nice retcon of the pilot episodes with humans.

+Iconic songs over Friendship Games and even some of what RR has... Win the Crown and Big Night, still compete with songs like Welcome to the Show.

+ I love this intro. Excellent remix of the main theme.

+ We get Sunset Shimmer's debut. And in the annual we got the origin story comic made by IDW which expanded upon this movie.

-The big bully trope has been done to death.

-I don't like Sunset Shimmer as a villain. She meets the requirements. But I enjoy seeing her be a heroine with the Mane 6.

-It does feel like a cash in for Hasbro. So Monster High can have a foe in the Toys R Us isle. The sequels show that DHX cared about making something better.

-Snips and Snails rehashed to be Sunset's lackeys.

I love all three of these movies. But top to bottom are the best to mediocre.

Haven't seen Friendship Games yet, so I'm only rating the first two.

  1. Rainbow Rocks: Unlike EQG1, the plot is way tighter, and the animation is monumentally improved thanks to a closer attention to the littler details. The score is rather nice, and the Battle of the Bands had importance. But it was marred by some stupid contrivances (including Sunset's character being reset to develop her), pointless exposition, flat villains, Filler Sentry, and terrible comedy. (Seriously, the three strikes joke of Sunset being hammered by her crimes was dead before it started.) It improved over the first by a long shot, but isn't that good. Grade: D
  2. Equestria Girls: The majority of the alternate world (the school, background school characters, villains, Flash) is a one-dimensional stereotype, and these stereotypes are promoted and embraced. The story itself has one A plot, but was pushed aside in favor of many B plots that ended before any tension was created. When tension was created, it was the result of the characters acting like bumbling idiots, especially the interrogation scene between VP Luna and Twilight (FIM main series's worst scene). The ending is a major case of bullshit: Sunset Demon planned to conquer Equestria with a teenager army; the demon herself is a Diabolus Ex Machina; and the Magic of Friendship is both a Deus Ex Machina and an immoral concept by resetting Sunset's personality completely. The only valuable part was Spike being at his best, but it doesn't save the film from being one of the worst of the year. It deserves no support whatsoever. Grade: F

3. The original
I never enjoyed it all too much..and it felt more like a plot to sell toys than anything.

2. Friendship Games
The only reason this one is second is because the friggin' principal. Talk about an awful antagonist..I really did not enjoy her over hammy-ness and cringeworthy song towards the end. Still, the movie focused on telling a story and being smart with it. It did not focus entirely on the humor, which I thought was awesome, and had a lot of heart...showing that Sunset is alright on her own when it comes to facing these super natural entities. Also, Acadeca is on my top ten list for best My Little Pony songs in general.

1. Rainbow Rocks
Trixie sang in this one....good lord, I had a field day with that. The songs were great, the story was superb, the Sirens were funny, and had great chemistry...It showed the redemption of Sunset, whom I hated at the time for how she was in the Original film. This is my second favorite movie of 2014, only being trumped by The Lego Movie. I just couldn't see any fault in it.
Oh, and Maud Pie's scene was gold.

I can make some looooooong posts, but i'll try to keep it a respectable length.

It's really difficult to compare them best to worst, because when you do that, it makes one seem worse than the others. But in reality, they all had strong and weak points.

OG: the original film had a weak plot, arguably, but it was a whole new experience. Twilight was getting used to being a human and it was genuinly funny and entertaining. The Cafeteria Song was one of the best mlp songs ever, and Spike was COMPETANT. He was actually really cool in that movie

RR: Rainbow Rocks had great overall story. The Sunset Redemption, along with the Dazzlings as antagonists really made this movie. The songs were great (perfect for remixes). It also had one of the best scenes out of all three movies (the kitchen scene)

FG: Friendship Games just had the most sturdy plot in my opinion. There weren't a lot of weak parts, but not a whole lot of great ones. Sunset going berserk on Twilight was an excellent character flaw done right. The animation was incredible. And the lack of Deus Ex machina, and addition of Super Saiyan Sunset made this movie. It also brought Sunset's Redemption story full circle.

So I'm not going to rate these best to worst. They're all good (and bad) in their own ways. I'll just say I throughly enjoyed them all.

3. Original - Wasn't that great, i didn't enjoy it that much probably because they were just establishing the whole turning into humans thing, but it was a different experience.

2. Rainbow Rocks - Though the plot was predictable, the Dazzlings made pretty good antagonists. Sunset Shimmer was a pretty good character throughout the movie. Starting to develop her place in the movies.

1. Friendship Games - I really enjoyed this movie. The plot was down to earth and wasn't that far fetched, peer pressure is a not out of this world. Sunset's shouting at Twilight fit perfectly into her character. It ends up that Sunset is fine on her own with magic. Sci-Twi was an interesting antagonist. Her curiosity caused her harm others but not intentionally.

Now these are just my opinions, if you think differently that's ok. I don't want to get into a giant argument arguing which movie is best.

Music does count. but most of the songs are really catchy... LETS GO WONDERCOLTS! LETS GO SHADOWBOLTS!
