Heh, totally called Twilight going on a map quest with Fluttershy. Looking forward to that one a lot simply on the basis that the other two map quest episodes were all kinds of enjoyable.

 

I am surprised that there's been no mention of Fluttershy's brother, so I assume his appearance will be fairly minor? Not to mention Fluttershy herself really hasn't/isn't getting a lot of episodes this season overall. I assume Scare Master is Fluttershy centric, (I haven't spoiled myself with the leak) and from the rest of the synopses here, it seem only Hooffields and McColts is focused on her. The rest of the ponies seem to get about three episodes a piece. It goes without saying that I greatly anticipate the upcoming Applejack episodes, and I also eagerly await Brotherhooves Social for its Big Mac-Apple Bloom focus. The only episode I'm not terribly thrilled about just from the sound of it is What About Discord? After MNFBKD, I'm just burnt out on Discord a bit.

I really don't think this will happen but if for some stupid reason it did, this would be enough for me to say "I'm out!" Like, awesome, two entire seasons, down the drain. Advancement completely destroyed.

 

This has been my biggest fear since season 3 and I really, REALLY hope this is not what they are planning, but I highly doubt it.

I expect a couple of changes in the alternate timeline. Cutie Mark Crusaders have their marks. Scootaloo can fly. Derpy is different.

It would be great to see those alternate timelines in the show, but I hope we see enough and not little. The great question is: How it will affect the current timeline? It would be interesting to change something, but I doubt changing Twi to a unicorn would be one of them

That's more likely an error since that just makes things completely confusing to actually give episodes in the same show the same name.

Totally looking forward to "What About Discord?" From the looks of the synopsis, it seems like Twi still doesn't fully trust Discord and isn't too fond of her other friends growing closer to him. Perhaps she hasn't forgotten the Tirek incident, and didn't approve of the Smooze fiasco, even if Celestia herself found the Gala amusing and lively.

Well, the episodes sound OK, but so did the trailers for Heaven's Gate.  The only thing I wonder is if they are going to use the Season Final to undo Princess Twilight.  If so, I have mixed feelings about that.  On the one hand, I'm not a big fan of Twilight being a Princess.  On the other hand, I usually don't like it when shows rewrite continuity.  (I quit watchin the 1st run of Dallas over the whole "Bobby's death was just a dream" brew ha ha.)

 

Oh well, 1 advantage to being old is you learn that most stuff either works out or it doesn't & there is no point having a hissy fit over it.

Definitely some very interesting episodes coming up. The Discord episode sounds like everything I hoped for. Namely Discord bonding with the other ponies besides Fluttershy.

 

 

The "What about Discord?" episode sounds like it might have a similar theme to Discord being jealous of Treehugger. Except this time Twilight might be the jealous one, but hides it with her suspicions of Discord going back to his old ways. My guess is they're planning a party for Twilight with Discord being involved as well.

 

Another possibility would be that Twilight's suspicions are actually correct, and that Discord put a spell on the other Mane 6 to become his friends. But that he has to learn you can't force someone to like you, and that you have to work for it to earn someone's friendship.

 

i'm hoping it's the first option with Twilight being jealous, as that would show she has her flaws as well and continues to grow as a character. It would be quite ironic; the princess of friendship not approving about Discord becoming closer to her friends.

Not really hyped for the finale, but I AM uber surprised. Like spit take level surprised.

Specifically, I figured that Twilight would never get a map episode until the finale, and like last season the finale would be served specially for twilight as her big Map episode with all the focus of the two parter being for her and how the map relates to her as a princess.

Given the precedents of past seasons setting up two parters for twilight specifically (The crystal empire and Twilight's kingdom for example), the precedent of last season having her map episode be the finale, plus the running plot point of twilight being super excited about a map mission only to be snubbed (Seemingly building up her map mission as the last and most important by exclusion via narrative rules), I was 100% convinced the others would get map episodes before the finale but not her.

This actually makes me far more upbeat for the finale than before, and I am somewhat taken aback that my prediction was wrong.

 

 

It makes perfect sense. Doing something like this would be a sign that the show creators care less about the integrity of their content and more about just milking bronies for money if they decide to change their initial plans to appease them. I said this once before: a good company does not "give people what they want" it tells them what they want. If they can not convince bronies to like Alicorn Twilight, they clearly are not doing it right. Hasbro instead of giving up and just going back and going "okay pretend that never happened!" should try harder to make Alicorn Twilight a more likable character if so many people dislike her. Me personally, I don't have an issue with her.

 

Going to offer a precedent here of why that's not something that holds true.

Remember Rodimus prime? If they tried to force people to like him and "told" fans what they wanted, instead of nixing him in the role he was in and bringing back Optimus, I doubt Transformers would be the powerhouse it is today.


At this point I think that nixing twilight's alicorn status wouldn't work (They focused on it LAST season, and for hte love of god its old as a plotline, we don't need to have it done again), but I do think your argument is untrue for all things. (on that note, I hate alicorn twilight, but I feel getting rid of it would do more harm than good).

Kind of confused myself. I just don't see Discord using mind control on fluttershy: I just don't. he cares about her too much to try and brainwash her into liking him.
I could possibly see him brainwashing the others and duping Fluttershy into thinking they like him, but that seems weird.

From what I read, Starlight Glimmer doesn't send Twilight into the past or anything. She alters the past to prevent Rainbow Dash from performing her first Sonic Rainboom. Twilight becomes just an ordinary Unicorn, studying under Princess Sunset Shimmer, and the others are delayed in getting, or maybe even get different Cutey Marks.

 

I'm calling this right here, right now...

 

I think Sunset Shimmer will grow to believe Twilight's insane tale that SHE is actually supposed to be princess, and not Sunset Shimmer. Princess Sunset will then use her magic to give Twilight the means to change everything back. Possibly even sending her into the past to convince Rainbow Dash that she CAN do a sonic rainboom. Twilight will win out, everyone will reset and she'll have her wings back.

 

Besides, it would cost Hasbro too much to revert back to toys depicting Twilight as an Alicorn.

Eh, i don't see this happening though. Starlight isn't connected to the twin sisters or any objects of magical power, and honestly was pretty much a nobody in equestria before the mane six getting involved.

 

I don't see starlight becoming an alicorn unless she somehow inserts herself into what twilight's life was or something.
