Just put the hay in the apple and eat the candle...

I was watching Princess Spike when I heard twilight sleep-talk the phrase

"No problem, Just put the hay in the apple and eat the candle"

Does anyone have any Ideas on what she could have been dreaming for her statement to make sense?

Perhaps it was the remaining vestiges of pride. Putting the hay in the apple could refer to passing along a fiery passion to an Apple, as the hay was lit with the candle, the source of said passion. Then one swallows the candle, along with a sense of pride never t o be seen again.

Admittedly a poor interpretation, perhaps, but you asked.

I like it, It's very poetic ,

It feels like an equestrian parallel to the phrase swallow your pride :)

She's so sleepy that she dreamed about eating a candle? .-.

I don't think that's the case , her phrasing sounds more like she's giving advice than doing it herself ^_^

Maybe someone like spike was tasked to hide a candle and some hay from somepony and asked twilight for help.

FACTS:

- Hay cannot be put into the apple because hay is more of a grass and apple is a BLOODILY HARD FRUIT!

- Eating candles is approximately the equivalent of eating coal or drinking diesel, which is not really good for either human or ponies (except for pinkie 'cause she's a witch).

Hence, this claim does not make any sense. Well, these three words cannot be grouped into any real sensible sentence in Twilight's dream anyway. She would come up with claims such as (and not limited to):

- Burn the hay with the candle and bake the apple.

- Put apple and candle away and eat the hay.

- Eat the apple and hay and light the candle (actually this makes a bit more sense)

- Insert the candle into the apple and stack the hay.

- Throw the candle into the hay and smash the apple.

She might even pops up different words and different sentence structure - but my point is, she's EXTREMELY exhausted and she's talking madness. Keep clear from a subject like her - we would never understand what a studious pony's mind is like. And what she might do.

No problem just put the hay in the apple and eat the candle.

Obviously she is talking to someone else. Which means she sees herself as important, and giving help, it doesn't matter what it is said(nouns), it matters how it is said(context).

She was dreaming about the day's events she was supposed to be doing. The fact it was hay and apples suggests it might be she viewed them as earth ponies needing help. Candles are something Unicorns would be more adept at dealing with. Usually for her it'd be with book reading. Which means perhaps she took on some memories of when she helped with Applejack to prepare for the future event (apple). Putting hay in an apple sounds like feeding Applebloom if anything, candle being associated with night, perhaps trouble putting her sister to sleep?

But people say dreams are always about the self even if its about something else. So, regardless of what the nouns are metaphors or associations of or for whats more important is its relationship to her.

Her helping somepony, it gives her a sense of importance and it shows her expectations for her character. She did it happily too, which means she enjoys it, also evident by the no problem bit.

I don't think it really means anything as I don't think Twilight was really awake when she made that comment to Spike, but perhaps it was a response to a dream as someone mentioned earlier.

Maybe she was dreaming of apple stuffing contest followed up by a candle eating contest.

Or maybe it means take care of business first than indulge in your pride.

She was making an idea for a video game, AVGN style! :D I have a feeling that after you put the hay in the apple, then turkey's come and eat the apple. That is the next step. Eating the candle is clearly a metaphor to gaining a fire power-up.

According to Princess Luna, "put the hay in the apple" means feed Apple Jack hay. And, "eat the candle" was an exhausted, slurred mispronounced version of "eat the candy".

She was simply dreaming about having dinner with Pinkie and AJ.

The apple could be hallow, It would explain how they could put they hay inside it .

I really like the claims you said she could come up with , it makes a whole lot of sense :)
