But hey, if you want to try to date Nightmare Moon, go ahead. Only caveat is, hard mode has been enabled: she will reply realistically. I know fans love to imagine that villains are just sweeties at heart or whatever, but you know what? Cold hard reality is gonna hurt if you think Nightmare Moon is gonna blush and accept an invitation and be a nice date. No sirrie, she's probably going to laugh, possibly belittle you, and at the very best, keep you around as amusement, at worst, have you imprisoned, beaten, or worse for even considering her as an equal as opposed to a queen to reign over everypony.

 

But you know what? Being successful isn't impossible; it's just ludicrously unlikely (and that's not Hollywood's "a million to one really means it's going to happen," it's actually super unlikely), but I'll be darned if I wouldn't be extremely impressed, so much so that I'd honestly love to RP it if not just to watch how Nightmare Moon handles a helpless lover, haha.

Oh, I didn't say no at all. I did say I thought it'd be interesting, didn't I? Only thing is, you've only got one life. Well, I mean, nopony's ever died canonically, so that seems to be some kind of border the villains don't seem to cross* ("even evil has standards"), but it seems with what Octavia's Bow said that we're keeping one, consistent universe (how else would competition exist?), so if Chrysalis imprisons you in a hive to have your brain sucked dry of love, then it might be somewhat difficult to date some other pony.

 

As for how she'd respond? Chryssy's an interesting villain in that she watches out for her hive. Leaders often identify with what they lead; her sense of "self" - even if she were purely human (and she's not, so her sense of self may be even more fluid) - may extend to cover her hive, and somewhat seems to. So is she a selfless lover of her hive that's just trying to take care of them? Sort of. But also since she identifies so closely with her hive (as a king may say; "My kingdom"), hive's glory = her glory, so advancing the cause of her hive is also advancing herself. So it's an odd sort of selfish/selfless deal. My guess is she probably sees everything and everypony as tools, so my first estimate on what would happen: she'll probably end up using you for everything you're worth... So hopefully she thinks you're useful for more than changeling chow Also, I wouldn't expect her to understand things such as "sharing" and "respect." The best she's got is blending in as Cadence - and you saw how well she did at that (read: not very. She was a jerk, just everyone was too afraid to call her out on it except Twilight). I mean, imagine the most spoiled person you've ever met and multiply that by a hundred. She's a queen over unquestioning, lesser servants. Of course she's going to get used to treating others as lesser beings, and it's going to take a lot more than a lecture to convince her otherwise when she's got a lifetime of experience telling her she's a god. So, just some things to consider.

 

 

 

* Except Sombra. Mostly due to the fact that the crystal ponies were PTSD'd pretty bad and he's the one villain who just got exploded instead of merely imprisoned or reformed, and that we know no specifics or close details about his rule, other than it was a horrible slavery, and that those are typically kept up with fear - for those reasons I have the headcanon that he's the one villain in the series that did kill ponies. Not merely imprison them, cocoon them, or whatever, but outright kill them. Yeah. We also don't know with any solid canonical basis what Chrysalis was planning to do with all the captured ponies (literally eat them? Drain them emotionally dry of love? Use them as cocoons for eggs? Turn them into more changeling drones? Zombiefy them like Shining Armor was? Put them in a hallucinagenic reality to feed off of their stimulated love?), or with Celestia being in that cocoon; but it's possible her plans could've been fatal to the ponies - but probably not seeing as she didn't do off with the mane 6 even after capturing them and they'd proven themselves a clear and present threat to her. The fact that she spared them there shows something really interesting about her, if you take that as her characterization as opposed to "of course she didn't kill them because it's a kids' show."

Haha. I love the facial expression. Very true. Cherilee is certainly a lot safer, doubtlessly will be a much more pleasant experience for your ponysona, but at the same time... A bit less adventuresome. But hey, as I pointed out in this RP's last thread in my own date: adventure stories are great fun... Until you're actually in one. It's a lot funner to read about Daring Do escaping from Ahuizotal's execution attempt than actually getting shackled to the wall of a flooding chamber full of piranahs, or strapped to an alter in a chamber flooding with quick sand, crushing spiked walls, spiders and snakes.

 

Well, Daring might like that, though, except for the snakes. She may be a bit of an adrenaline junkie, or just feels bored if her life isn't on the line or something. I can't remember if it was a fanfic Daring Do or one of the official books that portrayed her that way. One portrayed her as one who loves adventure and couldn't stand a boring life, another had her as a pony who ends up on adventures unwittingly, often trying to avoid them. I think the first one was the canon one... 

 

Anyways, I'm just having fun writing and thinking, but back on-topic: if you want a fun, pleasant time, Cherilee is definitely the better choice. If you want a crazy adventure and have to wriggle your way out of Daring-Do type traps and possibly somebeing trying to eat your brains, Chrysalis will be sure to make things interesting one way or another, haha.

 

 

 

Also, while I'm writing on the topic of hard-to-date characters, I think I'll mention that there's a reason there's traditional tales of "the princess is impossible to get with, but the poor bloke loves her and can't get to her." You're going to have to really shake the world to catch the eye of a princess. Twilight may be an exception since she's ascended, as opposed to Celestia or Luna who've been alive for at least a thousand years. But on adorkable characters in general: I would drop a warning that Moondancer and Sunset may try to friendzone you, or even avoid new friendships, since they're just getting used to the whole friendship thing in the first place, never mind dating. Once again, if you're clever and smooth, you might be able to pull it off, but it won't be easy.

 

Maybe you won't have to shake the world, though... Celestia is more reserved and controlled, and might just try to gently explain why it can't work, but they're sure to appreciate persistence. I mean, normally persistence might scare someone/creep them out, but Celestia and Luna are so powerful that they probably don't have any fear of normal ponies, so persistence might just come off as cute to them.

 

Addendum: [speaking of the two diarchs, Luna's a bit complicated/interesting... I've read "The Diary of the Two Sisters," and she's very much more the prankster, lively, live-by-the-seat-of-your-pants pony, as a filly. She's more the Rainbow/Pinkie/Rarity of the Elements, and Celestia is very much like Twilight. Which is interesting, seeing as in the series Luna speaks far more formally and seems more analytical formal in general. That either means that's just how she comes off, and she's really a much more lighthearted pony at heart (as Luna Eclipsed might suggest), or that her personality has changed quite a bit since she was a filly - which is also very much to be expected, considering her past. Probably some combination of the two...]

 

Eh, sorry, I'm probably just rambling at this point, as I said before, just having some fun thinking and writing about these things, somepony might find this useful information as they're scrolling through here, though, and doubtlessly at some point these questions will come up.

 

We're going to make this realistically hard, but it also means I feel somewhat obligated to offer pointers and advice. But be warned, when I write characters, they come alive, and sometimes they even surprise me, so it's only advice, though you'd probably be very well to consider it. But please don't let all my thinking-out-loud scare ya! Just use it as a bonus to help you if you want it

I definitely appreciate the help -- especially considering how new I am to the Forums.  Your discussion of the topic also helps me learn how you think about such things, which is probably even more helpful.  The truth is:  Considering everything you've said, I would even be MORE inclined to try and date someone like Chrysalis...just because the lure of the adventure is so strong, the way you describe it.  That said, I only have one OC...and I think he would be a poor match for her, anyway.  I'm better off sticking to Miss Cheerilee, who I have a lot more in common with, I think.
