spoiler Rainbow Dash got tortured in the S5 finale!

I thought her mangled up future version gave her some serious badass credibility. She lost her wing, a chunk of her ear, and almost lost her eye, yet she's still out there kicking ass and protecting Equestria.

I'm the opposite dude, Dash was fucking awesome in the season finale, with the metal wing and stuff, yea she might have got her wing torn off or something but that just makes her even more badass. Buzz cut was epic xD and that voice she made was just...O.O she is just epic....

oh and yea....the laser....she didn't die from it sooo...meh

I have to admit, I'd kind of like for Dash to lose her wing in the prime timeline now... could even have an episode about her being unable to fly with her wing and getting frustrated/giving up due to not thinking she'll ever be good enough to join the wonderbolts ever again since she can't even fly with her prosthetic, with her getting a pep talk from another pony about things and going back to it and learning how to fly with it (and a new goal/determination to become as good as she used to be)

It just looked so cool XD

First of all, nopony is above adversity. If nothing bad ever happened to RD, I would think even less of her, as her bragging would become progressively more baseless. Facing and conquering adversity makes a character tougher, and by proving her mettle (pun fully intended) RD was actually lavished by the writers, not abused.

-She had a metal wing, I doubt it was armored, clearly she had it torn off. -Boulder almost crushed her
Past-Future cycle 1: RD is stopped midflight from her greatest achievment, which she will never know. Having failed to win the race in Fluttershy's honour, she vows to never fail again when standing up for others. The Crystal Empire invades, and she goes to war, fighting tooth and nail to never fail to protect her friends and fellow Equestrians, perservering through injury, even going on to fight with a prosthetic limb and becoming a leader.

-How did a changeling capture her? Seriously! Rainbow also wouldn't sound like a coward.
PF cycle 2: Starlight stops Fluttershy from being bullied. Flutershy goes on to be more bold and confident, Rainbow Dash never needs to stand up for her and does not build the same level of loyalty, and is never tested in the extreme, so she never accomplishes the extreme. The boldness of youth fades and she lives a normal life. She is not utterly defeated, as many with unrealized dreams are, as she remained in Ponyville when many others hid in the secret camp. I have no memory of her being captured, though I may be wrong, and if I am, there was an entire hive, she was vastly outnumbered. Also, if you are upset about her sounding cowardly, it was a Changeling, so it doesn't count.

-Nightmare Moon forced her to have a dreadful buzz cut. She was also NMM's slave.
Before I continue, that buzzcut was badass and more aerodynamic.

PF cycle 3: The race is aborted due to an awesome magic battle. Twi never gets her cutie mark or comes to Ponyville, possibly never even reads about Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon is not defeated, and while she may be a dictator, she does not enslave the Ponies (bear in mind her corruption stems from being unappreciated and never recieving sign of love for a long time, after the possibly traumatic battles she faced with her sister), and seems to be a reasonably decent monarch to those loyal to her. Having never been bound to her group of friends, NMM's Pegasus Guard provides direction for her loyalty, and she fills the role well.

This episode certainly did not trea RD poorly. If anything, it elevated her far too high considering the message was supposed to be about the power of friendship and the collective accomplishments of the Mane 6.

Going to disagree there :P

While the buzzcut is way more Realistic for a military haircut, it just looked too "butch" and not really too comely; Her crystal wars haircut did a much better job of showing her being awesome and hard while still being cool looking IMO.

That being said, I have to admit that this is all up to the eye of the beholder, yeah? So I can't really say you're WRONG empirically, just I don't think it looked good myself and I've heard a few people voice that opinion too, so there's at least a small chunk who disliked it.

Heh. I'll disagree there.

Its a quite defensible position to say that she got too much SCREENTIME as she had a "real" appearance in 2 timelines and some speaking roles (Or at least she got more screentime than the other five besides twilight), but she wasn't really lifted up much since she didn't exactly do anything to save the day. And its not like she was the Head general of the army or anything.

So Dash wasn't really shown to be uber on the accomplishments scale in the timelines.

And for saving the day, the only pony who actually accomplished anything to solve the episodes problem was twilight, so I think Dash is a bad place to start with the problems for showing the mane six's collective accomplishments XD
