Finally winter storm Jonas laid roughly 20 inches of the white fluffy stuff at my doorstep. That's almost the average amount of snowfall we get for an entire winter. Why exactly? What is snow good for? In much of the world melting snow replenishes reservoirs and aquifers. It's a very important link in the water cycle. Only way I'd see someone be happy about snow is if they like playing outside like a 10 year old. Only one week with snow and frost and the rest, it was usually spring temperatures and rainy days. I mean, mild winters are not rarely here in germany (especially in western germany), but this winter is abnormal. I mean, on december, there was only one evening with frost and no snow. I'm visiting family in Omsk, it gets pretty cold here but at least they have the worst behind their back which is usually around -35 fahrenheit on the coldest days. It's supposed to be in the 60s for the next few days. =/ And Christmas through the new year was also ridiculously warm with a Tornado Warning popping up in the last few days of the year. Nothing is sacred anymore. I remember when I was a kid warm weather was so rare in the winter that we actually had different wardrobes for the different seasons.
