movies/tv Does anyone feel that Pixar is extremely overrated?

I for one think that Pixar is great at making animated films. Toy Story still haunts me to this day and that's something I'll never forget.

I think their last stuff hasnt been amazing but honestly i think pixar is so huge that everything they do will be called "overrated" just out of the sheer scope of their audience. It just comes with the territory of being massive.

Pixar has had plenty of great movies and for a while seemed to be paving a new standard for the industry. But they have let themselves slip a bit. Rather than making original stories they got into a rut of making sequels to their older, bigger hits. That's fine, it's good business. But they kind of lost their creative spark overdoing properties like Cars, and even it's derivative spin-off Planes, just because John Lasseter likes them and the merchandising is lucrative.

The ones that most deserve the sequel treatment like The Incredibles for example, has languished for what seems like forever before they finally green lighted the sequel.

I don't write off Pixar. It's always interesting to see what they come up with. They just don't quite seem to be what they once were. And they need to consider their projects with a little more care.
