  • 1 year later...

Just a simple thread where you say the game you have found the most scary and say a reason why!

Me? I played SCP: Containment Breach, that's a damn scary one. Being chased by some dodgy statue changes you...

Amnesia, SCP and Dead Space. Dem jumpscares.

Perhaps Imscared too. That one was creepy. REALLY creepy.

Also the Luna games. Scary crap that was.

Doom 3. When I think about it, it wasn't really that scary. But I played that game when I was 6 years old, so pissed my pants when I played it back then

Trust me, you do not want to see a guy's head being torn off in agony when you're 6 ;_;

Don't forget about the Black humanoid thing which chases you with no mercy and can go through walls. And the coffin. THE FRIGGIN COFFIN.

Fatal Frame hands down.

Let's put you all alone in an abandoned haunted mansion in the dead of night filled with the restless spirits of an entire house/village murdered through unspeakable rituals. Let's also make it so you can't control the camera angle at all, your enemies are ghosts, and your only weapon is a camera forcing you to take up-close shots of their lifeless faces while attacking you.

Yeah, that's not gonna completely screw someone over...

Oh man, not the coffin. And that humanoid thing made me wanna scream and lock myself in my toilet forever... Especially when it got me through the wall while I was turning around...

Oh SCP... why art thou so scary...why do you haunt my dreams! And Amnesia monster(s), whyyyyyy! WHYYYYYY!

The horror! THE HORROR!!

I have also played fear 3 recently but... it wasn't that scary. In fact, I've found that when I'm playing video-games, I like to fuck around. When I discovered the jump-kick in Fear, I couldn't stop jump-kicking everyone xP

Fatal Frame 2. I would have more, but I'm kind of a pussy, and usually don't play any horror games or watch any horror movies (I will never watch/read Cupcakes or anything like Cupcakes).

Dead Space one and two scared me so much. It was just jump scares and the quiteness didn't help along with the creepy lighting and sounds. Then they just put stuff in their to creep you out, like the guy banging his head against the wall. You just hear the sound echoing throughout the ship and when you find him he just bashes his head into the wall and it explodes!

I am not creative so... Battlefield

I have yet to find a video game that legitimately scares me. Jump scars can make you, well, jump, but they don't really keep you up all night, fearing that something will poke you in your bed.

Slender, for example, has definitely startled me when I have the volume all the way up, and with ear buds, but it's not all that scary. Kinda lame, actually.

Nothing really gets me psychologically anymore, though, I haven't played many games.

Dead Space was the first horror game I ever played. It made me feel so paranoid because I felt that no place was safe and that a necromorph would jump me at any moment. The enemies are what makes it so scary to me. Their very grotesque forms, disturbing noises, and the fact that they can strike at any given moment. I learned to fear those vents and tread carefully everywhere I went.

Not so much scary as nerve wracking, but that would be XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Imagine exploring a downed UFO, already having lost one soldier to an enemy unit...and three Chrysalids and a Berserker come charging out. The panic button wasn't so much as hit as smashed in by Mjolnir.

I was about 12 or so when I rented the first Silent Hill game, which I played with my mom (huge horror buff). She was loving it, but the game had me shitting so many bricks that I begged her not to re-rent it once the rental period was over. I was kind of a puss like that.

Nowadays, I can play that game (and the only two good sequels, 2 and 3) just fine, and it's honestly one of my all-time favorite games. It still gets my heart pumping, but more so out of the "survival" aspect than the "horror" aspect.

The Resident Evil series(RE0-3, and a bit of 4) always terrified me as a kid. They don't scare me now, but I still get a few goosebumbs every now and then. Except with RE4, the chainsaws will always terrify me

either has to be Amnesia or Silent Hill 4, i don't know what it was about silent hill 4 in particular, cos i've played all the main ones, as well as a few spin offs...

it was probably the fact that i played it on my own, with headphones, at 2AM, with the lights off... same way i played amnesia XD

that, and the unkillable enemies made it so you had to run so i bottled it every time i saw one of those...

oh perfect, i've scared myself... hold me? ;___;

@BrainyBrony

There was already a thread for the scariest game one has played. Yours has been merged with it. Before creating a new thread, please run a search to see if it's already been done.

People please Amnesia isn't scary at all. tongue.png I mean the custom stories are but the actual game is eh.. Feels overrated. You want genuine horror? Play Penumbra: Black Plague.
