zerox 1,340 September 19, 2016 Share September 19, 2016 Bill Gate died and was sent to hell. When he arrived the Devil decided to give him a choice as to what his damnation would be. His choices where: A fire pit for all eternity, being ripped apart by hungry dogs for all eternity, or to spent eternity locked in a room with a fully functioning computer with full internet access.Bill looked shocked then chose the room with the computer. After the Devil locked Bill into the room, a lesser demon asked him "Why did you let him in there that seems like his heaven?" The Devil laughed manically and said "Yes, but the computer runs windows, and the keyboard is missing three keys: Ctrl, Alt, Del!!!"
I used to be a stranger 7,994 October 16, 2016 Share October 16, 2016 (edited) How to do a magic trick: hold an eraser with your hand, then close your hand. Using a pencil as a wand, tap the back of your hand with a large upstroke (so that after you tap, you bring your hand up by your head) saying you're going to make "it" disappear. Tap once, twice, and then just before you bring your hand down to tap the third time, wedge the pencil behind your ear. The eraser was a red herring. You have successfully made the pencil disappear. You are now a wizard. Bill Gate died and was sent to hell. When he arrived the Devil decided to give him a choice as to what his damnation would be. The Diver 760 October 28, 2016 Share October 28, 2016 Hey! It's funny to me! 1 "I could have been happy above if I'd never donned the copper carapace and dipped my head beneath the waves to hear the muddled man-made sounds. Distorted and dreamlike droning. The whir and thrashing of a distant propeller, the tumultuous thundering thud of fogbound freighters. Mud underfoot, no sights, except the grasp of a diver's trained hand, dreaming of distant lands knowing all the while this is what I love, not the blue skies and wondering faces above. Canvas, rubber, brass, copper, and glass. Leather and lead, mud and sweat, heaving around in dark, damp depths seldom seen by most yet talked about by all. As if a sunny, happy place where mermaids and seahorses play and chests of gold are lain bare, untarnished by salt and time for all to grasp who are bold enough to go below..." -"Deep Sea Diver", Steven L. I used to be a stranger 7,994 February 15, 2017 Share February 15, 2017 (edited) How large the space shuttle could be was partly limited by the size of the solid fuel boosters that were attached to the sides of the external fuel tank. Thiokol (now Orbital ATK), a company from Utah won the contract from Rockwell International to build them, and send the completed boosters to Cape Canaveral in Florida to be assembled and mated with each Shuttle Launch. While in the planning stage, this Utah-based company determined that the only way they could transport a fully fueled solid rocket booster would be by rail. And no matter what route was taken to deliver the boosters to Florida, any train would have to go through at least one tunnel. This meant that the booster had to be smaller than a railroad tunnel in maximum diameter. Now the North American/International Railroad Loading Gauge is what states how big rail tunnels can be in most parts of the world. The North American Loading Gauge was derived from a British Loading Gauge that dates back to 1830, when one of the very first steam railroads was built near Liverpool on Rainhill. The road between Manchester and Liverpool was what lead to the original width of early British steam railroads. Early rail track widths were such-and-such because they had to accommodate horse teams being able to pull the carriages if the locomotive failed for some reason. So the tracks were the same width as ruts which were already present in the road. Now these ruts had been there for over 1000 years, because they had been worn into place by carts and even chariots way back when. People made cart wheel axels the same width every time so that horses wouldn't have to wear-in new ruts as they traveled down the road. Thus, the size of the space shuttle was derived from the width of a horse's ass. Edited February 15, 2017 by Blue
