spoiler Would Rainbow Dash being a full Wonderbolt be a bad idea?

I hope she learns to grow up a bit before that wonderbolts episode. One thing about rainbow dash that always seemed to hold her back was her lack of maturity. I guess we could consider the episode where she had to deal with loss as the example of her growing up a bit, but I am unconvinced that she would be mature enough to be a member of the military yet. I guess we will have to wait and see if rainbow crash really is wonder bolts material...

Wonderbolt academy showed the opposite; when told she was a wing pony and to fall in line, she immediately accepted Spitfire's orders and had zero issues being the secondary pony.

Plus, she showed a massive amount of maturity in her actions in the episode in standing up for what she believed in and that her morals came first before her dreams.

I think the episode may actually be based on what actually happens with pilots. Pilots are given call signs, and often are given embarrassing nicknames based on a mistake they made, like a reminder so that they don't repeat the same incident. Generally you can't choose your own call sign, it's given to you by others, and complaining about it is just sure to make it stick around longer.

Might be that Rainbow Dash feels like the nickname is a sign that they're rejecting her, when in reality they would do that to any new member and have even done it to one another, so they're treating her like she is a part of the team.

You know, that would be a mature moral to tell. Have it so the audience thinks it will be a name calling episode ... but instead it would pull a 180 and twist into a pride moral. If they can write around the unfortunate implications it may create ... this would be a decent concept. I kinda like it.

I think there will be something more than just the name to bother Rainbow. She would probably wouldn't be treated very well. I would imagine shenwould take it hard, as becoming a Wonderbolt is her dream, but she doesn't enjoy it.

As for being a Wonderbolt, I am not sure. I think it would be a good idea to achieve her goal. She would find new challenges being one, such as this.

The idea wouldn't be any worse than making Twilight an Alicorn, which they went ahead and did anyway.

Given that it has been her aspiration since the first episode, it is a natural conclusion to her development as far as the cartoon goes. I would imagine it will happen, but probably not until the last possible moment so that there is no opportunity for her change in status to negatively affect the dynamic of the cartoon.

That being said, Twilight and the CMC have all reached what should have been the logical conclusion of their characters as well, Twilight's didn't have a massively adverse effect for the show as a whole, and as for the CMC, it remains to be seen if they will still work as well post-crusade.

Well to be fair, the CMC's story did END with COTLM in Season 5 was a bad idea...Well technically I really don't like that change to the CMC a lot.

Another thing about Dash being a full Wonderbolt is, she'd probably have to leave Tank, which would be like the hibernation incident all over again.

Maybe they'll come up with a new story arc for her.

Sadly, I doubt it.

S6 is looking to be the final season for the show, So I'm betting they're planning on this being a "Wrapped up her story completely" kind of thing.

that being said, I really had always hoped she'd tell the wonderbolts off for being douches in so many of their episodes and decide she'd rather be a freelance adventurer ala daring do :P

that'd be a neat new arc.

In an interview, Big Jim himself said that the series will continue as long as it's successful, so S6 being the final season is doubtful.

By that I expect he would mean that they'd continue on in movies if the 2017 movie was successful.

Whatever happens after, I'd say that it's about damn time that she becomes a Wonderbolt.  Rainbow has more than proved herself at this point, and I personally think that she's outperformed the Wonderbolts themselves on several occasions.

In the season four episode "Rainbow Falls," Rainbow rushed to the aid of Soarin while everypony else just kind of watched him plummet to his maybe-death, and Spitfire remarked that Dash was, "As good as any Wonderbolt."  Rainbow ultimately set an example for two current Wonderbolts members, which only goes to show how the Wonderbolts might benefit from having her in their ranks.

In season three's "Wonderbolts Academy," Spitfire recognized Rainbow's leadership skills.  This came on the heels of Rainbow's show of integrity when she walked away from a Wonderbolts that understandably wasn't living up to her expectations.

The Wonderbolts didn't fare well against a giant Spike in season two's "Secret of My Excess."  Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy ended up catching a falling Rarity and the diminished dragon, and the Wonderbolts spent much of the incident in captivity.

Also from season two: Spitfire seemed impressed with Rainbow's determination in rallying the pegasi for the to-Cloudsdale water transfer in "Hurricane Fluttershy."  For whatever reason, Spitfire (a strong flyer) didn't participate, but I'll call it a matter of pegasi pride (it was Rainbow's / Fluttershy's moment) and move on.

Season one: Rarity falls as a stadium full of horrified ponies looks on.  The Wonderbolts, to their credit, leap (fly?) into action...  And are quickly rendered unconscious.  Rainbow performs a Sonic Rainboom and saves both Rarity and her would-be rescuers.  A case could be made that she ought to have been made a Wonderbolt right then.

Oh yeah, I skipped the part from season five's "Rarity Investigates" where the Wonderbolts, who had been saved by Rainbow and witnessed her integrity in past episodes, accuse her of faking a note to manipulate Spitfire.

I'm biased, yes, but I've also been paying attention.  There's no excuse whatsoever for the Wonderbolts not to want Rainbow on their team; she'd make them look better.

>You suddenly realize that it was easier for twilight to become an immortal God Princess that she never even knew she was trying to become than it was for Dash to become a normal bog standard wonderbolt
