Hey everypony. I love the game of Golf. You know, the Scottish game where you hit a small stone with a curvy stick and whack at it as many times as it takes to get into that gopher hole at the end of the sheep grazing field (true story...that was the origins).

I know I can't be the only one here who likes this wonderful game, that is best experienced first hand, but is fun(!) to watch on TV when the course and drama takes it. I'm writing this during Masters' week, which I spend watching pregame on Golf channel all week and watch every minute of the tournament itself, as I believe there no golf tournament that is better, nor many sporting events in the year that come close. (my ranking  #1 Masters, #2 Super Bowl, #3 tied with NBA Championship and World Series). Yes, that's what the Masters mean to me.

I also watch Feherty and think he's great. I don't like the new format at the bar and grill though.

Unfortunately, I am horrible at golf. I have a maximum handicap, despite growing up where my dad had free access to a golf course and I played often, but I spent a couple summers at a golf camp. Maybe the golf camp sucked so bad that wrecked me for life...or I just only get to golf once a year or so (until I move to Texas, then cheap golf and great weather is everywhere...)

So:

Any golfers?

What's your handicap?
Where do you play?
Do you watch?

Fore...um...if that's okay.

Silly Twilight - she knows every rule, but didn't remove the flag. She might get a two stroke penalty if she hits the pole.

I enjoy a round of golf. I never really keep score though so I have no idea what my handycap is. It's mostly just for fun and an excuse to go outside and enjoy the day. I still consider myself somewhat decent though, I've gone to camps as a kid and taken lessons to improve my game.

It's much more fun playing than watching, it's just so quiet... Though I can't lie, it makes me laugh when someone drops the F bomb on live TV. :P

I love the sport of golf! It's the only sport I really follow. If I had a nice course near me I'd really like to try golfing IRL. But as it stands I just watch it religiously on TV and play the PGA Tour game that is on Xbox One.

You hyped up for the Masters?

It's going to be so weird without Tiger Woods again, and I think he may be done...for good this time.

When it comes to The Masters it is less about who's playing and more getting to see these players at Agusta National. That course is just the most beautiful thing ever.

I agree - if I ever had a chance to see August National, it'd be a dream come true. I've read a couple blogs of people who've jumped the fences and walked around at night....I would never risk it though.

I swear the water on the holes are more clear and mirror like than anywhere else - I even watch the par 3 contest because that mini course is just as beautiful.

I'd golf more if it was cheaper in NY, but to play cheap, you have crappy golf courses, with rude crowds. Last time I played at the course near my house, it took over 5 hours!   In TX, you can play at some nice courses, with carts, and not crazy crowded, for like $20!

I like mini golf, if that counts..?

I recently got offered to be one of my friends golf buddies and I kinda don't know how I'd have the time for that.

Plus, isn't it a sort of rich guy sport?

It can be really pricey and expensive, but there's a lot of municipal courses out there, where you can play a round for like 20 dollars, sometimes less if you want to play only 9 holes, which I recommend to beginners...sometimes 18 is just too much and too long. Clubs and balls will be your biggest expense, but rather than spending a  ton on the best equipment, you can collect some basic clubs at a pawn shop, or a basic set pretty cheaply.

You don't have to be good, unless you're playing with some Dbags. It's about having fun, and spending a few hours BSing and enjoying nature. I find it fun and calming.

Find out how much your buddy's course costs, and maybe see if you can borrow some clubs and try it out once, see if you like it.

The only golf courses around here are on country clubs >.<

I love playing it, but I know next to nothing about it. So I don’t know handicaps or anything like that. Just that the goal is to put the ball in a hole with as few curse words as possible, while beating anyone who tries to get in your way with the club, but each beating counts as a stroke so you have to be careful.

Watching it puts me to sleep every time though.

And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so!
