Sticking to Greek mythology, Satyrs.  Chimera would be possible but probably too weird.  Deer have been mentioned & seem logical.  If they are bringing back G1 stuff, Seaponies.

It would be even more interesting to see more horse-like creatures that share similarities with other races that have already been established, specifically kirins and Hippogriffs (Silver Quill's kind). This would create interesting relations between the existing races in the show.

 

For sentimental reasons, I'd love to join the deer bandwagon as well. I'd like to see the Whitetail Woods actually populated with some of its namesake, with possibly some Germanic and First Nations aesthetics used. For good measure, also throw in some antelope.

SPACE PONIES or some other other-worldly race, arriving in a ship. Good friend-seeking story fuel. Mention the planet's name, Equus, at least once for Celestia's sakes! Six seasons and not one acknowledgement their world is not flat!!!

 

For carnivores, I agree, foxes and serpentfolk could be interesting. Maybe even an extraequusian reptilian race.

 

As for seaponies, YES, this would finally complete ponykind's element wheel; Earth ponies for Earth, Unicorns for Fire, Pegasi for Air, Seaponies for Water, and Alicorns for Spirit. All five points of the ponigram!!!!

 

Just please, PLEASE DON'T have the Seaponies sing "shoo-be-doo, shoo-shoo-be-doo" every time they appear. Hasbro, if ya do that, I'm gonna shut down my netbook, skip the rest of the episode an' run outta the room. As Appy would say, Darn Tootin'.

If I saw that catoblepas or whatever that is walkin' by, I'd run back inside like that lawyer from Jurassic Park! Maybe they could do a Kaiju battle episode, Ursa Major VS Catoblepas! Only ULTRAPONE can save Canterlot city!
