Who is the strongest pony in magic?

Odds are, probably Princess Celestia, even though Twilight is very good in magic.

Flurry Heart seems to have an insane amount of magic power for just a baby. In terms of which pony can use magic the best it's Twilight and Starlight. 

 

Starburst seems pretty knowledgeable as well but not as much as Starlight.

Well, based on Comic canon, he's actually not that good of a mage, he just figured out how to make a portal to other dimensions and then Swapped magic spells with other realities until he got all the spells he's got. Like the villains of Bio shock infinite stole their technology from alternate realities, Starswirl got his spells from other realities and didn't discover the majority of spells on his own.

Plus, he actually was utterly useless against the sirens and kind of just pushed a Mirror portal near them (the one big magical breakthrough he ever did) near them and sucked them in it.

 

Granted, this is all IDW comic canon though, so I can see why alot of people would like to ignore that (honestly, comic Starswirl and Show starswirl might as well be two different beings)

Logically it should be someone like Celestia or Luna, or even Twilight who's special talent and former element of harmony is magic, and became an alicorn.

But Starlight's unexplained OP hax powers from The Cutie Re-Marks on would make her be the strongest in magic.

Starlight Glimmer, obviously. It's been p obvious for a while now to be honest. She altered Starswirl's spell and obviously has plenty of magic talent. Probably even better than any alicorn yet.

Unicorn-wise, I still say Sombra.

He reality-warped a whole kingdom into a crystal Mordor, it took 2 Alicorns just to temporarily beat him, he made the whole place vanish for a millennium, he could block others' magic, he made whole pocket dimensions of stairs and traps, he almost won with little onscreen effort, etc.

It is a bit of a toss up between Celestia and Luna, yes Twilight, Stalight and Sunset are insanely powerful but they are not quite at their level yet at least not without some external power boosts. If we don't include them then Twilight, Starlight and Sunset are relatively even with them having different unique strengths and weaknesses in different areas of magic and though it dosen't explicitly say which it does imply and hint at it in certain instances.

Unicorn-wise, I still say Sombra -- he reality-warped an entire kingdom into a crystal version of Mordor, could only be delayed at best by even 2 Alicorns at once, made the whole place completely vanish for over 1,000 years, was able to block other Ponies' magic, created entire pocket dimensions of stairs and traps, nearly won without even having to do much of anything onscreen, etc.

how is Twilight in any way the most powerfhl, though? On her own, her magic would pale in comparison to all the magic in Equestria, which we saw being used against Tirek. (If she could't beat him with x4 alicorn power, then no way would she win with her own power, so that should say soething on her solitary power level)

I would have to say Starlight Glimmer. Being able to alter Starswil's time spell and use other spells such as being able to fly must be very powerful in magic. It was also said by Twilight telling her friends that she had more magical talent than any other pony she saw. She even said that her magic couldn't stop Starlight and reasoning with her was the only way to stop Starlight. Being able to be evenly matched against an alicorn would mean that Starlight is very strong when it comes to magic, in my opinion.

Tirek's magic was only stolen pony magic. So it's an appropriate magic to gauge Twilight's own powers.

I think it's Twilight, Starswirl, Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Starlight, Twilight's Mom, Trixie, Rarity, Everyone else... in that order. All of these characters seem to have a huge boost compared to the average citizens of Equestria.

Solar flare is like a fictional character in a fiction, she was a dream character, I don't think she counts as any powerful character, plus she was still on even grounds with nightmare moon either way(Unless you mean in the comics, then you can disregard everything before this), also I couldn't have forgotten her; she wasn't in the show back in 2016

well King sombra is also powerful in season 3  he made the crystal empire vanished into thin air and it only took Celestia and luna to defeat him and banish him into the  frozen north and in season9  the beigning of the end is when he conquer the crystal empire again( until the mane 6 came to stop him )  he almost  took over equestria and he was killed off twice and also he destroyed the tree of  harmony and also he has a shadow form so I guess sombra is also Powerful
