"Ooh, let's learn about tactics!" called out Redwood.

 

This teacher seemed incompetent compared to the military discipline of her parents. She didn't even have a solid lesson plan, plus it was clear she couldn't keep the class under control either. Still, the opportunity was there, so Redwood figured she'd try to learn about something interesting.

@@crispy fries, (ouch) Cheerlie blinked a bit at that statement then remembering she was a GI mare shook her confusion away. self defense was never her strong suit and couldn't find a reason for her students to learn such......she then looked at a picture of her late husband...she shook the memory away then looked back at red wood smilling. "redwood hunny this isn't military school but I think I could get some tactics taught." she said smilling going to the board writing the word tactics.

Once again, Redwood was happy to explain. "Well, tactics are just a fancy word fer military strategies. Anyways, what are we gonna learn about? Frontal assault? Siege operations? Close quarters? Ooh, blitz? Are we gonna read Saddle Tzu's The Art of War?"

 

It was surprising that Cheerilee had agreed, but Redwood was happy none the less.

As Cherilee asked what they all wanted to learn, and adressing herself specificaly, Walleria tough of two of tree big reasons she was forced to be there, but before she could say anything the round pony who she now hear that the name was Summer Bead. Tryed to be funny telling that she should learn how to not burn down the school! earning some laughs from other ponys around. But before she could do anything there was a pony with a big ribbon on her head that effectivly silenced Summer Bead.

 

Happy that this pony had helped she turned to Cherilee.

 

"Well... Banner tells me that I need to learn more about how ponys work... What is ok to do and to not do...  I think she calld it general education... She also said I need to learn pony writing as us dragons rarly write, and use other symbols."

Stormy looked up at cheerilee when she asked what they wanted to learn, and started to think. Stormy thought for a moment about what he wanted to learn about, he already loved the sky and had gone to see the weather factory in cloudsdale, he kept thinking while listening to Redwood's information on battle tactics. Stormy was surprised to hear that Walleria didn't know pony script, though after thinking about it it really did make a lot of sense. Her being a dragon would make her culture different. Stormy's mind began to think off track about how dragon culture could be different in other ways. Do they use a bit system? how does their government work? why do they have to migrate? if not greed what makes Walleria grow? are there multiple types of dragons like there being three types of ponies? Stormy shook his head in an attempt to clear the swirling questions but they kept forming.

There was quite a bit going on all of a sudden, and Baseplate was hardly prepared for such a shift in the pace of the class, so he simply sat back in his chair and waited for things to settle down again, his pencil still spinning in his magical grip as he examined the purplish mare from where he sat. An inquisitive filly that one, not afraid to ask questions. A good trait to have for one her age. Most around here would likely be afraid to ask questions for fear of their ignorance being revealed.

Stormy looked up to see that Baseplate was leaning backwards.

Stormy tried to figure out what questions he could ask, without directly asking walleria, as that proved to be... bad. So he started to try and pin down what question Baseplate might know about, and decided that his knowledge of baseplate's knowledge was very very limited. so stormy leaned forward a little bit and asked him.

 

"What do you know about dragons? they seem really interesting but after the way Misty's questions went with Walleria... I thought it best to ask you, 'cause you've met spike."

@@cwhip9, Misty raised her hoof, with another question on mind. "What else can you get a penalty for?" She asked with a pause. "And how many can you get? and what happens when you reach that number?" She asked, lowering her hoof and waiting for Cheerilee to answer her question.

Fudge and Sundae looked at each other and shrugged when they heard Cheerilee asking what they would like to learn about. Their old school wasn't as hooves-on with education and they thought long and hard while the other students started asking their questions.

 

Fudge raised his hoof. "I'm not from here," he said. "I want to learn about Ponyville and what this town is like."

 

"Yeah," Sundae agreed. "And I want to know more about that dark forest. Our dad told us not to go there because it's dangerous."

Baseplate was surprised that someone had addressed him, he turned to see it was the pegasus who had been reading over his shoulder before. "Oh? I guess I don't know as much as I had originally thought. I guess I'll be learning more as we interact with this new dragon, given she's so much different from Spike."

Stormy looked at Baseplate, and was dissapointed for the lack of information, but tried not to show it.

 

"Well i guess you'll be learning on two fronts eh? maybe i could come over and ask Spike!" Stormy still wanted to learn more about dragons, but walleria was a bit... abrasive. "I probably sound like a jerk, asking spike instead of walleria, but..." stormy glanced at walleria "I think she might flip out again."

Baseplate looked skeptically over at Stormy, but shrugged "I guess Spike would be a safe bet for learning, though he himself doesn't know much about what it's like to be a dragon. He'd appreciate the company though, he's too different from me for me to really relate to him as much as I'd like."

@@cwhip9 Cyan Flare lowered her gaze to the paper which had been placed in front of her as Miss Cheerilee took suggestions for what they all should learn. She hadn't got any suggestions, and remained quiet as usual. She heard some mentions of magic, Ponyville, and tactics. The idea of learning about tactics, surprisingly, quiet appealed to Cyan. She was actually quite interested in that sort of thing, but kept silent still.

@@Flearia Dragondanser, As walleria said her comment on general education for ponys cheerlie felt a tinge of sorrow for the dragon. She probably couldn't read anything in the room which would make it harder for her. Maybe calling spike in to help wouldn't be a bad idea  nodded her head "And that we shall im sorry for not thinking of that till now walleria" she said writing in pony and dragon script below her pony script

 

"pony 101 and dragon 101" seeing this will be a great gate way for her students to learn about another cultruer she made up her mind. She was going to need spike on this to help.

"that's a good question misty, on the paper in front of you misty has the guidelines to follow here but in a nutshell heres how it works. late once without an slip for a reason will have you stay after school for how ever long you were gone. you could use this time to catch up on what you missed, have a study seasion, or homework.
2nd, 3rd, and 4th time will be homework ontop of staying after school
5th time me and your parents or guardians will have a sit down with you as well."

 

As she said this she wrote 5 tally marks on the board enforcing what she was saying with more visuals.

@@GingerLightning, @@The Cerberus, before string shot could respond hearing the yellow philly remark he stoped moving helping her steady herself. An mare with a green coat and darkgreen mane about cheerlies age but slight older came rushing towards the ponys "oh ginger its ok hunny" she said heping her steady her with the help of the two colts. "thanks boys ill take it from here let cheerlie know she'll be out for a bit" she said guiding ginger towards a bed to lay down.

Baseplate read over the sheet he had been given carefully. It seemed a pretty solid plan for the age group, something he could have done in a few days so it wouldn't be looming over his head for the year.

 

He raised his hoof before speaking, "Ms. Cheerilee, about the Dear Me project, will the letters we write be kept confidential? I.E. are we the only ones who will see our letters, or will you be reading them/sharing them for a grade?"

 

He also wondered who he could do a presentation on for the idol project. He definitely couldn't do someone from his memories as no one else had likely ever heard of them. It seemed he would be doing some history research for interesting figures tonight.

Trying as she may, Walleria could not read the notes on the paper for the life of her, she made a soft nudge with her claw on the pony beside her to try get their attention. "Psst," She whispered with extremly dark shade of purple in her cheek scales. "I can't read this... Could you maybe help me read it? Please?"

Sundae jolted a bit when Walleria's claw made in contact with her upper foreleg but when she saw who prodded her, she leaned closer to hear her request for help. "Sure, I can help," she whispered back. She wiggled her desk closer to the dragon and peered over to read what she wrote. She looked quizzically at Walleria's handwriting and could not make out anything she scribbled.

 

"Looks like you dragons read differently than us ponies," Sundae said. "I think I might know a good way to start." She tore out another page from her notebook and wrote the letters of the pony alphabet. "This should help," she said, giving the page to Walleria. "Once you learn our alphabet, you'll know how to read our words."

Scar wasn't sure if he had heard right what String shot just said

But didn't ask because he didn't know how String shot would react.

Quill was bored Cheerliee was too busy with everyone asking questions and catering to the dragon, which of course was the correct things to do. She looked down at her empty note book nothing to write in it or learn about, not to mention nopony was really talking to her. She put an elbow on her desk leaning on her forehoof. She sighed and blew her cream coloured mane out of her face, which then fell back down again met with another sigh...

As Sundae moved her desk closer and concluded what she herself already had... That dragons use other writing language then ponys. Luckily they use the same words as far as she had heard. When Sundae gave her the paper with the pony alphabet she smiled. "Thanks Sundae! This will make it easier to understand!" She thanked as she started to mark down her own alphabet on each letter to then try read what acctualy was on the paper and started to try read the paper. tracing the lines while using one claw on the alphabet sheet and moving her snout like trying to form the words.

Baseplate nodded as he lowered his hoof, her answer made sense of course, though it was very likely she would be reading them regardless of how private he would prefer it to be.

 

Given not much else was going on he decided there would be no time like the present to start drafting out ideas for that letter to self. He took out a fresh sheet of paper and began to write.

 

Dear future self,

 

Hopefully by the time you are meant to read this we will be long gone from this town, we weren't meant to stay long anyway and given the expressed quality of the school system here I don't see a high chance of this letter managing to follow us wherever we've managed to end up.

 

That said, I should still make an effort in the off chance that my plans don't reach fruition. It has been two or so months since I arrived here under strange circumstances...

 

He paused, it was certainly a good start, he'd have to write more on that later.
