ponypowa96 106 May 21, 2014 Share May 21, 2014 Well, I'm from the UK, so that makes me notoriously uni-lingual, at least if we're talking in terms of speaking a language fluently. I can speak German relatively well, but people could tell I'm foreign (I still make some grammatical mistakes, and my accent is still quite obviously British). My French is okay but I probably couldn't survive in France in the long-term without expanding my vocabulary. Plus I completely murder the accent. I tried learning Finnish a while ago after visiting the country and becoming completely enamored with it, but despite being a beautiful country, the language is anything but beautiful, so I gave up after a little while - although I still remember some of what I learnt. Steel Accord 6,660 May 21, 2014 Share May 21, 2014 I would like to learn perhaps a little of Mandarin, Japanese, and Portuguese. The first because I may want to live in Hong Kong one day. Pretty much zero government control of the markets there. (Ayn Rand fanboy here. ) . . . Unless of course they speak Cantonese there. The second because, I am studying Japanese martial arts, and having context for the terminology would be helpful. (Plus, you ever have one of those instances where you have no clue what you're saying but you can actually pronounce the words passably well?) The last because I spent a good time at Brazil and it also seems like a good place to live. I'd certainly like to perfect my French, but I don't have the time or patience (or location) to perfect it at the moment. Aside from that, probably Japanese... But not really. I took French in high school and I've just finished it, but I was never really good at it, I don't think I could hold a simple conversation. Then, of course, I tried learning Japanese in my weeaboo phase, and I gave up after a week. I also know a few phrases in a bunch of languages (Norwegian, Finnish, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish and Arabic), but don't have any real knowledge about the languages themselves. If there were one language I could pick to learn, it'd be Russian. No real reason other than I like Russian accents and the Cyrillic alphabet. Estoy actualmente aprendiendo hablar el español con mi novia y necesito todavía mucha ayuda con mi español. Estoy buscando a otros oradores que me puedan ayudar. Lo siento por los erroes xD Quiero hablar y escribir y leer en español elocuentemente I had to use a translator a few times, but that's basically my current ability in Spanish, or at least writing it After that, me and my girlfriend are planning on learning Hebrew together So far I only know how to count from one to ten, give someone my phone number, say the blessing over the bread, and some basic phrases. I can't write in Hebrew and that'll probably take a long time xD After that, I want to start studying some more Swedish (my girlfriend wants to learn that with me as well) and see if I can achieve fluency in that too. It's my ancestor's language after all! Jag heter Dsanders och jag älskar dig svenska så mycket! I just know that and a few other phrases.
