i dont know how but, i started playing a whole buch of car games. mainly on console. the game that i really liked are Driver San Fransico (it gets kinda old after you finish the story), Little Racers STREET (needs a good pc tho ) and Test Drive Unlimited 2 (can be hard but driving around is fun!)

I've played Rivals on 5 times back in 2012/2013. I haven't played it since. (Stupid PS3 won't work properly anymore)

The Forza Motorsport. series, particularly Forza 5, is the reason I love racing games now. Forza 6 is now my favorite racing game ever. The customization, the car selection, the graphics, the stability of the engine, it is all so awesome. Though I hate playing racing games online. That is never a good experience for me. Before, I never liked these types of games. Now I have put hundreds of hours into this series alone.
