It's possible FiM will end with S7, maybe not. Still, assuming there's one in the first place, it'll be in the same year as the pony movie. I think it would be time to wrap up FiM and maybe focus on EG and focus on a new pony spinoff while still G4

That'll probably be the case cause it all makes sense. Sucks though, everytime a good show ends it's like a part of you dying inside and you start searching for something else to make up for it. Knowing that it might end soon enough is kind of sad.

I'd more put it ending at the movie since the show's been spinning its wheels heavily in S5 and S6. I'm thinking the movie is going to wrap everything up and things are stuck in a stasis "filler" kind of state due to not wanting to upset the path the movie's set upon.

I hope it will. Season 7 would be the final one, and the movie would wrap up G4. It would be the perfect ending to FiM, considering how long it's been going on.

I generally don't really like the idea of the show getting anymore than 6 seasons.

At this point all of the main characters have obtained the goals that they were striving for sense the very beginning, and their character development seems to have finished.

I don't really see a lot more done with their stories.

It would be best to end the series with the best possible way that they could, and a feature length film seems like a great way to wrap up any last threads and go out with a bang.

I want the show to run way longer, especially now that the Guardians of Harmony toyline that is pretty cool, I would like them to keep the show running so that toyline can keep introducing crazy new concepts.

If they were going to be introducing crazy new concepts for GOH, they'd be better served with it being seperate canon, but that doesn't look to be the case in any way shape or form. Don't get your hopes up, GOH looks to be pretty much 100% the same as normal FIM, just with a toyline attached. (The comic with RD could be a normal mane series comic and nobody would have blinked)

I am still not convinced that the show won't be ending after the movie next year. I hope it doesn't but it just seems like a logical way to have a grand finale.

My thoughts exactly! The show's had an amazing run, but it has to end eventually. It would't be good to keep dragging it on and on for no good reason. Just look at what happened to SpongeBob!

Going to be honest though, joking aside from the horrificness that Many artists do when they Try to draw a Fused mane six, I wouldn't be surprised if they did that at least ONCE for a conclusion to fighting a villain, since "the group of heroes fuse into a super being" is a very old shonen cliche.

 

Hell, they could make it look like the thing at the end of rainbow rocks, everyone loved that scene.

It will end when all the mane six are alicorns, and one will be Alicorn-ified at the end of every third season, so totally getting an Alicorn at the end of the season 6 finale! To complete all 6, we have to get to season 18.

 

 Unless Starlight Glimmer does become a part of the Mane "7", in which case we get 21 seasons. If Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria, we get 24. Theoretically, if they just keep adding new mane characters, the show could go on for infinity, it would survive the heat death of the universe, MLP would be the only thing left in existence.

 

...Or, it could end at season 7. Or here, with just 6. Or at 8. Who knows? We can only guess for now. Personally, I hope it goes a bit longer though.
