I think the season 6 has been pretty good and MLP definately hasn't "gone Spongebob" yet IMO. I really don't see even how it would make financial sense for Hasbro to scrap what they've got with MLP now and start something new from scratch. G4 is the best MLP has ever been by miles, and there is still so much that can still be done with it. Think of the difference from Gen 3.5 to current Gen 4... Lauren Faust really put a lot of effort into Gen 4 and wanted to do something "different." Gen 5 will be made just...because? I can't even think of what they could do that would stand out. Different characters? I don't think that's going to cut it. The next MLP gen is going have pretty big shoes to fill. Something tells me that most likely it's probably going to get the crap bashed out of it. I can just see it now. The show has been going on for over 6 seasons, and I don't really want it to be going on for too long, and start becoming like Spongebob. Although, if it does end, I don't want the current generation to end just yet. Because I want this show, a show I really, really like, to end strongly and not drag on and on getting worse each season. A 7 season run would be very good for a series like this, and everything must end. I prefer it to do so when it's still good rather than having to be mercy killed. Castle Bleck 19,379 October 2, 2016 Share October 2, 2016 (edited) Going to be honest though, joking aside from the horrificness that Many artists do when they Try to draw a Fused mane six, I wouldn't be surprised if they did that at least ONCE for a conclusion to fighting a villain, since "the group of heroes fuse into a super being" is a very old shonen cliche. Hell, they could make it look like the thing at the end of rainbow rocks, everyone loved that scene. It has changed a bit to have already been more than one show, but two or three different shows. So if it ends, well it ends, I probably wouldn't feel like I lost much at this point. It really differs from person to person what they'd regard as prematurely, but a seven-year run is more than a lot of other shows get. There's also the fact that the movie is set for release next year, and that's a great way to end the series. A triumphant ending with a mountain of feels is better than dragging on until eventual cancellation with no real conclusion. As much as I love this series, I already fear that sometimes they don't know what to do with the characters anymore. Sometimes, i think season 5 will be the last season, too many plot loosen in this season. The writers have proven they are capable of keeping the show fresh after 140 episodes (wow, there have been 140 episodes!) so now I want it to keep running as long as it can.
