spoiler Did everyone feel sorry for Chrysalis? Or sorry for Starlight?

Those things make you sleep forever and ever until someone sets you free.

Since the scene revolved around Starlight, Thorax, and Chrysalis, the others being in cocoons allowed them to be written out until they were needed again at the end.

Even then, I doubt Chrysalis would be that merciless to keep them in there forever. She'd at least let them out every now and then, especially since she had her throne to protect her.

As for writing them out until they were needed at the end, seemed like a poor choice on the writers' part from my point-of-view.

Maybe King Thorax can open a sleep clinic in several Equestrian cities.

First, they need to figure out how to make those cocoons work without scaring anyone in the process.

Provided they survived long enough to be let out.

Yeah, and by "survived" in your last comment, I'm saying that the cocoons might actually preserve them in some way so they are still the same when they actually are let out as the cocoons did keep them nourished and all that.

Do we know for certain as to how Changeling cocoons work? All we've seen is that they can be used to trap others inside of them for an indefinite period of time, and that they are prone to shattering when something epic happens.

After everything she's put them through as of late, I would not put it past them to harbor a grudge for everything she's done.

I hope they harbor a grudge and just banish her to Tartarus or something. Anything is better than yet another reformation.

Good point. We've only seen them as a means to keep powerful ponies subdued, like Celestia, and we've never seen them actually fall and break open as it always happens off-screen at the climax of the finale, so we only see the aftermath. Perhaps they might explain how the cocoons actually work in a future episode regarding the Changelings again.

Chrysalis has proven just how truly wicked and evil she is by showing just what kind of leader she's been to her Swarm, and having put Equestria's sovereigns and saviors through so much turmoil now, I would not put it past them to have the thought of sending Chrysalis to Tartarus lingering in the back of their minds following recent events in To Where and Back Again.

Probably because had a single changeling been spotted, it would have been all over. Thorax might actually have been the unwitting trigger to her plans. He had been spotted, everypony reacted INSTANTLY and protected the royal family at all costs. But after accepting him, their guard had all but relaxed, and so would the others'. Maybe Twilight actually tried to reason with them, only to be captured in the end.

This is all speculation of course, but given the scale of reaction Thorax's appearance had caused in the Crystal Empire, it might not be that far-fetched in some points.

Good point. Thorax could have been an unwitting pawn in Chrysalis' plan to kidnap the Royal Family and Elements of Harmony by helping lower their guard so they would not be as alert as they were when they learned of him. As for Twilight trying to reason with them, judging from how we saw her in her cocoon, I don't think she got that chance at all.

Then again, the other Changelings might not know how they work. The cocoons could have been implemented by Chrysalis making her the only one who knows the secret.

To me, those pods are like see-through pokéballs. They have everything you need, aside from a nurse Joy. Never looked much more into them.

Makes you wonder if Chrysalis has stronger variations for prisoners stronger than the average pony.

The ever classic Pony Pod, followed by the Soil Pod, the Wing Pod, the Horn Pod and last but not least, the Master Pod!! Comes with variations for non-ponies, such as the Chaos Pod.

Well information flow is odd in Equestria. Applejack? Never heard of you, now make place for Countess Coloratura!

Yeah, she's just helped save Equestria a dozen times and is one of the avatars for the Elements of Harmony, not to mention one of the closest friends to a PRINCESS and part of an ancient, well-known and well-established family with ties all over Equestria. Svengallop was just one among many who don't recognise any of the Mane 6, except Twilight maybe - hard not to notice that she's a princess.

Perhaps it's time for Equestria to start making sure that certain ponies are recognized and not because of fame and association to someone with fame.

Maybe, but it was shown that it took about maybe three Changelings to cocoon Celestia in A Canterlot Wedding. Consider how many it took for all six members of the Royal Family, the Elements of Harmony, and Spike to cocoon all of them, plus Discord and Trixie later on.

Also, taking another look at when Chrysalis makes her escape, when Celestia, Luna, Shining Armor, Twilight, Rainbow, and Thorax join Starlight to look over the edge after Chrysalis, Celestia has a sympathetic, if not sad, look on her face. Perhaps, despite her Death Glare she gave Chrysalis earlier, she was hoping that Chrysalis would repent with the rest of her Swarm and accept friendship into her heart. When Chrysalis chose to stay loyal to her hatred, anger, and lust for revenge, Celestia must have felt hurt that Chrysalis refused Starlight's offer and chose to continue following her dark path. Despite all the bad blood between them, Celestia had really hoped Chrysalis would reform, and when she chose not to, it probably made Celestia feel all the worse at how she might have to condemn Chrysalis to Tartarus in the future.
