I it is easier to remember and otherwise Discorvery Family must play the movie too. The equestria girl movies are also not build in the series, so I think the movie 2017 isn't either.

The references in Season 7 are different than first 6 seasons

The references in Season 7 is references to Dynasty Warriors,Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi

Examples:

-In Nightmare Night episode there will be someponies dressed up as Zhao Yun,Guan Yu,Liu Bei,Zhen Ji,Ina,Yukimura Sanada,Lu Bu and Tadakatsu Honda

-The Music Oriental Rush from Dynasty Warriors 6 will play on Vinyl's headphones

-Lu Bu Background Pony 

-When Mane 6 try to defeat Tirek the second time The First End from WO3 will played in the background when they start fighting him
