PCutter 127 July 3, 2020 Share July 3, 2020 (edited) I watched it because I found the ponies cute in everything they do and the show promotes friendship, something that everyone today spurns for the sake of agendas or whatever. And I still think this up till now: F*k all those who insist on pushing "debates" founded on ageism, gender roles, and "unwelcome" sexualities. Ixrec 86 July 3, 2020 Share July 3, 2020 (edited) Mostly no. I've read and watched tons of stuff with fantasy worlds, idealistic settings where villains can be reformed, an art style more colorful than our world, and target demographics younger than me. I'm sure it bothered me back in high school when I was first getting into anime and giving the magical girl shows a wide berth, but I must've gotten over that at some point considering how much Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew and Ojamajo Doremi I ended up watching and liking. The one small exception is whenever I get to the end of a season one episode where they annoyingly spell out the moral for you. But even that is really the show itself patronizing me into feeling like I'm five years old, rather than a clash with social norms (and yes I'm aware they were required to do that). In practice it mostly meant that I found it way funnier and more cathartic than I probably should have when in season 2 Applejack writes "I didn't learn anythin'! Ha! I was right all along!". Jedishy 3,548 July 9, 2020 Share July 9, 2020 Nope. I've always been odd and into random stuff. So I've always just liked what I liked and everypony else can pack hay if they don't like it May the Friendship be with you.

O-78 28,606 March 22, 2022 Share March 22, 2022 I felt weird about it when I was first getting into MLP, but I don't feel that way anymore and haven't for a long time. 1 Signature by @Mellow Mane
ExplosionMare 18,062 March 22, 2022 Share March 22, 2022 Nope, although I felt weird for watching something TV Y in the very beginning. What's funny about MLP though is that neither parent was concerned about that particular interest. There was always some issue with my other interests but when it comes to watching a certified preschool show about pastel horses? No problems there! 1 Boom! MaxAnim 41 March 23, 2022 Share March 23, 2022 I kind of feel weird just by even going on the internet for that (and yes that includes this website) I avoided the series a lot now but I did watch it in secret.
Skylight Scintillate 2,030 March 24, 2022 Share March 24, 2022 Well I was at first and I still am a bit, (that's why I'm a closet fan,) but I usually tell myself that people should be allowed to like whatever they like as long as it doesn't harm anyone and I don't associate myself with the negative parts of the fandom so I should be fine. Octavian 5,421 March 24, 2022 Share March 24, 2022 Yup, I used to hide watching it and I still keep it from most people outside friends/family. 1 hour ago, Props Valroa said: because the US flag is the ultimate pride flag
Rosy Moonlight 369 March 24, 2022 Share March 24, 2022 (edited) I honestly always feel a little strange watching MLP, mostly because the people around me don't understand fandoms, and I feel like I wasted a lot of time taking so long to watch MLP. Do I feel really weird watching MLP G1 and G2? No. DO I feel really weird watching MLP G3, G4.5, and G5? Yes, but when it comes to the songs I love, I don't mind it so much. Prospekt 11,018 March 24, 2022 Share March 24, 2022 In the beginning, yeah, but I got over it. I'm not so self-conscious about what I enjoy. It's not like I flaunt the fact that MLP: FIM is one of my favorite animated series of all time, but I don't really feel ashamed of it either. LonelyYugi 59 March 25, 2022 Share March 25, 2022 No. I don't feel weird watching a show that's aimed at girls. Life's too short for me to worry about what other people might think, plus I don't believe in gender stereotypes. 1 Equestria Girls is canon
RakanTheMan 125 March 25, 2022 Share March 25, 2022 I don't feel weird for liking the show, It's just a show at the end of the day If someone tries to shame me for liking the show, They are not worth my time. Justin_Case001 4,885 March 25, 2022 Share March 25, 2022 I felt weird the first time or two. Even though I reject gender stereotypes, it's hard to shake off those shackles when the feeling is so ingrained by society. The first time I watched it, I was home alone, but I was still, like, looking over my shoulder to make sure no one was watching, peeking out the window to make sure no one was walking by, making sure all the shades were drawn and the doors locked. Yeah, I felt weird. I took more precautions than a kid watching porn on his dad's computer. Now I dress like EG Rainbow Dash when I go out in public. I watch Littlest Pet Shop and Miraculous Ladybug. Now it just seems weird to me that it ever felt weird. But sometimes I wonder if my perception is just so warped now that I don't realize that I look like a freak to normies. But then I just be like: Spoiler
EpicEnergy 23,218 April 18, 2022 Share April 18, 2022 Being weird is perfectly normal, but modern-day society declares that being weird is damnable and unacceptable, thereby forcing you to either conform to what's acceptable or becoming an outcast. Weirdness is often viewed as a negative term, but everyone is weird in one way or another. It's just that some suppress their weirdness more than others. So, to answer the question, I do feel weird for enjoying MLP, and I'm proud of it too. *totally not up to any shenanigans*
Tacodidra 61,150 April 18, 2022 Share April 18, 2022 I did for a while back when I started watching, mostly because of my own preconceptions related to the franchise. But not anymore, there are a lot of shows people watch that I'd be more embarrassed to like (and it's more about the fandom than the show itself for me these days, anyway). 1 Signature by @Sparklefan1234
The Recherche 29,968 April 18, 2022 Share April 18, 2022 Somewhat, but I do think how you express it can really go a long way. It's all about taste, really; enjoy it on your own time, don't bring it up unprompted (especially around children), don't try to make it a huge part of your identity... just be a well-rounded person in general, really. Most people are perfectly fine with whatever quirks you may have in that case, even staring at pastel ponies in your free time. ❆~ 𝓐𝓵𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓕𝓸𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻 𝓟𝓮𝓮𝓻𝓵𝓮𝓼𝓼 ~❆ 𝓕𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓨𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓼 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰: 𝓜𝔂 𝓟𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵 𝓕𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓹 𝓲𝓼 𝓜𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓬 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀
