Are the EQG movies worth watching?

I will finish season 3 by the weekend. I only started watching MLP recently. I know that the first RAG movie takes place after season 3. Is it worth watching? Or should I just move on to season 4?

I'd say give the EQG movies a shot, and see if you like them. The first one tends to be considered the worst of the bunch from what I've seen, but the exact opinions on it are mixed. Some think it's just decent, others hate it. But most people seem to consider it's sequels much better, the second one in particular is praised quite heavily. 3 and 4 still seem to be considered good, just not as much as the second.

Personally, I love 2-4 and still think the first one is pretty decent.

I'd say at least watch the first two movies, to see if you like it. If the first doesn't win you over, the second is the most likely one to.

I guess I'll give it a shot then. Like I said I'll finish season 3 by the weekend. So if I have time I'll watch the first one. Also do you know the chronological order of the movies? I mean when they take place within the shows timeline.

I say they're worth watching for the soundtracks alone, especially Rainbow Rocks. They feature some of the best songs we've seen in G4, in my honest opinion.

Alright after I finish season 3 I'll watch them thanks for replying. :D

EQG 1 is in between season 3 and 4 of course, then Rainbow Rocks is inbetween 4 and 5. Friendship Games is between 5 and 6, and Legends of Everfree can be watched anytime after that, but I suggest after season 6.

Don't forget to watch the shorts too, by the way! Rainbow Rocks has some prequel shorts, and some shorts after the movie, and Friendship Games has some prequel ones as well.

They can get cringy, the stories can be hard to follow and require rewatches. Whether or not that's bad is your choice.

Just watch the movies, and whatever you do, don't watch anything about them. Not even the trailers; go in blind. If you have already, that's fine. but it would be better to go into the movies blind, I'm yet to achieve this myself though.

You have your whole life left, so much to do, so much time to do it.

Use it wisely; Because you will never get a second chance.

Sadly I already watched reactions to them. Not to much has been spoiled but I would like to avoid spoilers in the future.

The first movie is...not so great, imo, so don't let it discourage you from watching the rest. My absolute favorite is the 3rd, but it sure seems like the 2nd is the most popular.

No harm in giving them a try, you either like them or you don't

Rainbow Rocks is usually considered the best and Legend of Everfree is generally favorable, while Friendship Games and EQG1 are more mixed(an edge to FG)

I'd say they are definitely worth watching. Sure, there are a lot of problems with the original movie, and I personally wasn't the biggest fan of Rainbow Rocks, but the series has got its moments, and my favourite movie is the Friendship Games. I think it's always better to see for yourself.

I think they're enjoyable enough, I watched them all at seperate times, probably out of order from the show, but they're nice guilty pleasures.

Perfect for a Sunday afternoon under a blanket when you just need something sickly and sweet to get you through.

Yeah I think Ill probaly like them. I say that because I liked the Tinker Bell movies.

Well I haave to finish season 3 first. Then I'll watch the first one. Afterwards I'll see about the others.

Yes - but if you don't watch 'em...not a big deal...  :-P

Alright I think I will watch them though.

It depends, really. The first EQG was enjoyable but really not very good, bar some of the songs which were awesome. The second movie is much better, and I personally consider it to be the best of the four.

My recommendation would be to watch the first and second movies (watching the second one after season 4) and then decide if you care enough to see the other ones. I'd like to say 'watch only the second one and then decide if you like it', but it won't make much sense if you haven't seen the first one.

To throw out a dissenting opinion here, I do not think they are worth watching.

IMO, they are simply not well-written. Their plots are incredibly contrived, and their climaxes always descend into one big magic hoopla where anything goes, regardless of whether it makes sense or not. In fact, if you watch them, the first thing you need to understand is that magic in the series can basically do anything, and has no limits or restrictions whatsoever. It does whatever the plot needs it to do.

The films utterly fail at juggling seven main characters, and as such, I do think that the humane five qualify as main characters at all. All development in these films go towards advancing Twilight and Sunset Shimmer, and the rest of them receive none of it. They are mostly just around to fill space.

On top of all this, the films are not even remotely relevant to the show. They exist in their own little isolated bubbles, and the events of the films are never referenced anywhere in the show, nor is there even the slightest indication that they are even canon to it. You will miss absolutely nothing in the show if you were to skip them.

Others will tell you that Sunset Shimmer alone makes the films worth it. Honestly, yes, Sunset is the only thing that the films have going for them. However, if you're like most other Sunset fans, all she's going to do is make you want her to appear in the show, and it's very unlikely that it's ever going to happen.

Just my opinion.
