Unlikeable Pony 2,699 November 16, 2016 Share November 16, 2016 The Mane 5 are okay, it's Twilight I'm concerned about, I fear that she is becoming a mary sue in the show and not being her old self like in the first 3 seasons and since she's the protagonist in the film and series and that everyone looks up to, I feel that this will be a disaster unless something miraculous happens. I think this has been the concern and most voiced issue with the show since S3. Sadly, they still seem to have no idea how to address this it seems :/ Hi again guys. Today I'm opening this topic to see your point of view. As you remember I made a big deal about how the S6 finale killed my hype for the show despite loving the S6 very much until that point, how that made me deciding of quitting with the next year's Movie, and all that stuff. However, indipendentely of what are my concerns for the future of the show, I personally believe the Movie should wrap up the show. Not only because the two episodes I didn't like from the s6 (The Cart Before the Ponies and To Where and Back again) have shown the first signs of the show officially starting to run its course, but also because I feel that the stories this show could tell are running out: (almost) every main and more recurring character got his/her signature episode, most of the places on Equestria's map have been seen at least once, and all the arcs started since S1 have been concluded. The Movie will show locations OUTSIDE Equestria, so that's another thing covered. Honestly at this point the only thing this show needs it's a Celestia episode, I don't know what else they could tell at this point. While I've zero worries about the Movie itself as saying that it's in good hands is using an euphemism, I've several concerns about the S7 instead and how the characters will be handeld in it by the time the Movie it's released, and I've already pointed that indipendentely by what will be the fate for MLP, I'm gonna take the Movie as the series finale in any case, but this is just me. What about you? Do you think the Movie should wrap up the series once for all? Or you still think the show still might tell something else? To you the word.... Yes. i think the movie would be the perfect place to end the show, and I kind of hope they do so at the show. I think they COULD keep the show going well, but I lack much faith in them at the moment: S4 was pretty strong and gave me alot of hope for future arcs, but they've just been spinning their wheels in a big way. So I think at this point a giant grand send off might be for the best: I hate to see things get dragged off into stagnation, like what happened with beast wars going into beast machines, or How robots in disguise is doing as a follow up to prime. There's been alot of misteps, so I honestly think things would be best served by a refocusing with a reboot at this point. Reboots can be incredible things after all. Now, could I be wrong? Yes, Yes I could, and as an example, LOE reignited my interest in the EQG franchise after FG sunk it, and S4 reignited my interest in FIM after S3 sunk it. But they'd REALLY have to pull out some new ideas and fix alot of issues that have been plaguing the show to do so. That being said, the info that Haber is probably NOT working on S6 has given me some hope there.
-Deleted- 25 November 16, 2016 Share November 16, 2016 I really don't want MLP to end with the movie! And I don't think it should either because MLP still has so much more potential.
Blackshirt Brony 415 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 (edited) Like most people here, I don't necessarily want the show to end with the movie. That said, we've had six seasons now and it has to end at some point. Basically I think it depends on one thing: will the movie actually have a good conclusion? If so, then it might make sense to end the show there. Otherwise, no. Edited November 17, 2016 by Blackshirt Brony
Anonymous Old User Who Has Left 599 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 (edited) It's hard to say. I KNOW the anti-Starlight warriors are gonna hate me for this, but IMHO Starlight was the one character that made Season 5 AND Season 6 worthwhile. She was the crankcase (and in some ways the fuel) that kept the cams, valves, and pistons all moving throughout this year of MLP and gave the Season 5 finale the big ratings it deserved. It's up to the writers if they want to build up the character development towards the climax in the movie and end it all there, but it's highly unikely, as the movie will explore areas of Equestria unknown to the audience because they weren't shown in the show. Within the span of 90 minutes or so (av.g movie length) isn't going to be enough to cover each new location and characters associated with said locations in-depth enough. (Look how long it took before we realized Diamond Tiara's true motive for her bullying behavior) So it's likely that there'll still be more seasons to cover those locations/new characters from the movie more in depth and produce more stories from them. Swifty 249 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 Considering the movie will rather blow (McCarthy neither made a good Two parter nor a good EQG movie) and season 7 won't be any better than S5 and S6, i think it's time to start the Starlight Glimmer Show with G5
Holy Sword Excalibur 87 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 Yes, absolutely. MLP the movie, brought to you by M. Night Shamalon, Micheal Bay, and Mel Gibson. ManaMinori 4,146 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 I hope they do. Send FiM off with a bang, and cut the Starlight era short. 7 years is plenty for the ponies to have had their spotlight. Now, if they want to keep the brand going, I do not oppose a g 4.5 focusing on a different mane cast (fingers crossed for pony SunsetShimmer), but still in the g4 style Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub

leonbrony17 1,216 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 One thing is clear. Mlp should'n get eternal seasons, especially not if one season get more worse than the season before. Just look at spongebob. It started 1998, 2004 came the movie and after that they continiued making seasons and not all of the episodes after suck. But today spongebob sucks so much that i would rather watch better shows than to watch the new episodes. What i try to say is that every show has a deadline. Spongebob reached it many years ago and mlp maybe in 5 - 8 years.
KatieBelle 302 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 While I do believe that ending the show with *a* movie would be effective, I most definitely don't want it to end with *the* movie!
Luminance 2,186 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 Depends how good the Movie holds in regard to the MLP franchise as a whole. I would believe that they would want to follow up the Movie with another season of two to finally wrap things up for FiM rather than just finalizing all 6 years worth of material into one movie. Don't forget, it's toys too so as long as the franchise as a whole is well, we should be receiving more FiM.
Ninjaed 526 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 Eh, it's almost all "how I think it should end (or not)". Shouldn't the question be: "what reasons would Hasbro have to end FiM with the movie"? They're making money off it, a lot of money off it, they have a very dedicated fandom, it has become extremely famous, thus giving them free advertising, they've created a new toyline, it's their most popular show ever, list goes on... Did I mention they are making more and more money? Reasons to do end the show from Hasbro's point of view? Something as intangible as "Spongebob was deemed to suck a few years after the movie came out". Except Nickelodeon is registering income growth even today, so what do they care that some say "it sucks now"? The path is clear for Hasbro at this point. Sorry, naysayers. Cleverclover 1,526 November 18, 2016 Share November 18, 2016 I'm still hoping that the movie will be a complement to season 7, which will have wrapped each of the characters up and had a fitting ending to the show. I find your lack of faith in the writers disturbing. Oh, yes, our magnificent writers. The ones who have stepped up to replace the irreplaceable McCarthy, Larson, and Rogers, and frequently get replaced again each and every season. The ones who either have not seen every episode, or flat out don't care about the previous development the mane six have received. The ones who thought that episodes like The Cart Before the Ponies, 28 Pranks Later, and P.P.O.V. belonged in season 6.
20% Cooler Than Cake 161 November 18, 2016 Share November 18, 2016 So long as the writers find ways to keep the focus of the show dynamic and the characters with new challenges and ways to grow, I think this show could keep going for as long as Hasbro wants. Recently, though, the show has been starting to get a little bland, particularly with Twilight seeming to have become able to deal with just about any conflict given to her so far without it significantly developing her character, and with Starlight not getting as much characterization as she deserves. Needless to say, however, there is still a ton of potential as to how the show can keep evolving in new and unexpected ways, and if Season 7 and the movie go off really well and show that the writers are capable of keeping things interesting, then I see no reason as to why it should stop. Also, I just really really don't want the show to end just yet. “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. FlareGun45 2,221 November 18, 2016 Share November 18, 2016 (edited) I chose "it depends". I mean if all my questions have been answered, then I'll be satisfied with the show, but there are still some things that need to be wrapped up before the show ends, such as who the Manehattan CMCs are, Spike's origins, a Celestia episode, zebra homeland, Scootaloo either learning how to fly or meeting another flightless pegasus, Lightning Dust and Wind Rider coming back, and a few others. I don't have to have ALL of my questions answered, but some are very important, and I just don't want the show to end prematurely. All of the main cast deserves to have one more epic episode of their own in the final season. Edited November 18, 2016 by MegaSean45

NeonCobalt 256 November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 The show will end when it is no longer profitable for Hasbro, end of story. In terms of if it SHOULD end after the movie, I'd say no. I've never really understood why some people want Hasbro to come out with this huge movie, which by all accounts seems like it will, among other things, have a huge amount of world building, then immediately end the show so they can't take advantage of said world building. 1 Credit to @Kyoshi for the signature! Sly 236 November 20, 2016 Author Share November 20, 2016 (edited) The show will end when it is no longer profitable for Hasbro, end of story. Heh, this is another reason I'm gonna quit after the Movie no matter what it will happen next. I've did some researches about old Merchandize driven shows from the past: shows like TMNT, Jem and the Holograms and even LPS who ended this year, were NEVER conceived to have a proper ending, and when they ended they ended just because the toys' sales dropped, and ended with something that hardly felt like a series finale (and I'm pretty sure even the current TMNT series won't make exception to this). As a Merchandize driven show, MLP's fate won't be different... which is why I've chosen the Movie as my send off: it is the closest thing to a proper series finale that this show will ever get IMO. Keeping watching it after it for me could be seriously dangerous considering what effects my disappointment in the S6 finale had to me (read here for more information: https://mlpforums.com/blog/3202/entry-21483-whats-happened-to-me )and if in the last season finale the Mane 6 will get the same treatment..... I don't want to immagine how I will feel.... At this point quitting after the Movie it's the most safe thing I could do to keep both my healt safety AND my love for the show intact. Ah whatever, I've said this a lot of times, I think you got the idea, this has become very boring and repetitive, even for me... Raven Drakeaurd 292 November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 (edited) It better for it to end with a satisfying conclusion rather then just puttering out because its been 12 seasons they have added 5 new mane characters to try and keep it going, so in my opinion Yes it should end before it get bad, and lets be fair 6 seasons a spin off show and a movie is a pretty good run Edited November 20, 2016 by Raven Drakeaurd
Kaneki 1,073 November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 Nahh.... they've got a good season or two left, probably. I just don't want it to do like The Simpsons, where they've ran so many seasons, all they can do now is reference pop culture to be funny, as they ran out of ideas. Thrond 3,263 November 22, 2016 Share November 22, 2016 I need a season of Dash having Wonderbolt problems, Rarity having fashion industry problems, and the CMC pursuing separate interests. I'm okay with it ending after that, as long as Twilight becomes interesting again at some point. The movie sounds like a big event, and though I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment, I'd rather it ended on something more small-scale and intimate, where we see how much the mane six's lives have changed. Slice-of-life finale soon, please.
Queen Sparkle 104 November 22, 2016 Share November 22, 2016 (edited) Simply put, No. If we look at the show from HasBro's perspective the show makes too much money to be shut down. If we look at it from a writer's perspective there are too many places gone undeveloped and too many ideas. Looking at this from a fan perspective, the show is too good. And looking at this from someone's view, if the show get shuts down a lot of people in or outside of the MLP show staff will lose their job, mainly people which only report on MLP. Ultimately we have to look at MLP 4th Gen as this way, HasBro has stated (a couple years ago or so, so give or take on the actual number) they have planned the MLP marketing for the next 15-25 years, and so if they expect to reach that MLP has to develop into one of those shows which has 10+ seasons. So will it come to that, I don't know we'll have to wait and see. As for the movie, multiple great shows have movies established to the plot of the storyline, if MLP doesn't have this then it can be considered a great show, but a movie will give it more value, especially with the sales and fan base, when the movie releases I expect to have every place showing the movie full with people, generating a ton of sales, and that, in a business standpoint (again) gives a show a lot of value. Also, we think that the ending will call to us as if the show says "And me I had more fun" but no, maybe the ending is implied, or maybe HasBro likes to allow you to create your own endings, with the MLP fandom, that would be tremendous to us, that way no fan-fiction authors have any limits, say a fimfic writer wants another big adventure, they can do that, anything can happen if the show doesn't end, so weather they end it or not, it's ultimately their choice.
