I have been working on a project on and off for a while now, and I was hoping to toss some ideas around with some of you lovely people here? I am converting Transformer characters into Ponies: yes, not the most original idea in the world I know, and it may have been done once or twice before but this I'm doing this for me and my boys ultimately. 

 

My main problem is that I've been getting bogged down with allocating different characters to different Races/Species within the known world of Equestria and beyond. Anyone that turns into a drill is a Diamond Dog for instance, or anyone who turns into a Jet is a Pegasus, but anyone who turns into a Helicopter is a bat-winged Pegasus. But there are some Characters that fall through the cracks a little: Sky Lynx for example is a single entity sharing two bodies, both Lynx and... Pteradactly I think, it's not super clear what, but they also combine into a Griffin of sorts. I have little idea how to accommodate this! A whole subset of characters are the Breast Animals. I would love to know of something that could fit in with that aesthetic. 

 

I have about a dozen characters whom I could talk about, and if anyone is interested I could go full crazy and go through the other Races/Species that I have brought into this as well (Moon Creatures, Gullifax, Kami and Nukekubi to name a few).

I have 'respected' Transformers for years now. Most recent one I've watched is Prime, which was great imo. Just wish it didn't end so soon.

 

But good luck to your 'project', Ill be sure to keep an eye on it if I can

I loved Beast Wars when I was younger, but never kept on with the series after it though, as seeing them as animals was much more interesting than just vehicles. Along with that, the Bay films killed any of my enjoyment for the franchise that I had left and it hasn't recovered since.

Prime was an absolute gem of a show! I actually looked forward to each episode as they came out. Robots in Disguise is a poor sequel.

My list is quite comprehensive: the Maximals and Predacons are included, as are the Vehicons (which I have translated as Crystal Ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns as appropriate).

 

I'll get some scans up once I am back at work and can borrow the printer there. I forgot to mention! The biggest thing I need help with are cutie marks actually. Like, Megatron: based a heck of a lot on the IDW version of the character pre-revolution, he's a miner with a predisposition for poetry and helping those less fortunate through peaceful methods and discourse, with communist leanings politically (mostly).

I've actually only gotten into Transformers recently but I've been really binging on the franchise. Currently going through G1(already watched passed the animated movie which was awesome) and Prime and burned through Animated, which so far was my favorite animated series

I have only really watched a little bit of Prime on Netflix, but I was impressed with what I saw, I might eventually get back to watching it eventually.

I've been a fan since it was a thing. I've watched all the different American generations, have all of the comics currently (including the UK exclusives), have sat through even the worst of the animes series and have read through almost all the mangas. I have owned a ton of the toys over the years as well.

I love Transformers. I collect them now and enjoy the original, Prime and NURiD.

Not all of the Transformers will fit neatly into pony species, you may have to give yourself some artistic license to accommodate the likes of the Headmasters, Targetmasters, Pretenders and of course oddballs like Sky Lynx.

You're not wrong about the Pony - TF thing. One 'Rule' I added early on was that if a Transformer converted into an animal, then they would be that animal rather than a Pony of any sort. This immediately added diversity and cut my work by a serious chunk. I looked into other Mythological Horses too, and use Gullifax as a replacement for Transformers that turn into Boats, Hovercraft and the like (ponies that essentially float across Land and Sea: it's a fairly liberal interpretation of Gullifax I know).

 

Sky Lynx and the Duocons are a bit of a headache for me: I have a note here to look for creatures with multiple bodies controlled by a single mind, like a Hive Mind lacking ambition, but that's something I have not been able to find in Mythology at all.

I've been a fan of Transformers since I watched it as a child back in the 1980s though I wouldn't call myself an absolute die-hard fan. Some spin-offs within the franchise just don't appeal to me so my expertise is geared towards specific things. Still, I suppose that I might be able to contribute something.
