How to start liking Applejack?

Watch "Apple Family Reunion" and pause the scene where Baby Applejack makes you want to snuggle her. If that doesn't work, watch "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" and again pause to see Baby Applejack once more gracefully smiling on her birth certificate.

If you ever find the answer, bottle it and you will be a millionaire.

Okay Thanks for replying to my topic.

Okay Thanks I'll check those episodes out.

I like her, she's just not my favorite. I don't truthfully dislike any of the Mane Six.

I can agree with that statement.

Applejack is one of the most down-to-earth ponies; and if you look hard enough, you'll find a lot of her morals in common with yourself. As an Applejack fan, I believe some of her best qualities and moments come from the sense of honesty and blunt statement of facts that the rest of the Mane 6 purposely ignore; she has her "chuckle moments" that always bring her up a notch in my book.

Liking Applejack is subjective, of course, but she always seems like the most dependable of ponies and the one who'll look after you in a pinch. As will all the Mane 6, Applejack still has her "negative" moments that can come across down-right cringy. Her character development has always been a bit uneasy; but in the end, Applejack continues to show herself as being a loyal, family-oriented, honest, and overall friendly character to get to know.

There's never a secret to "liking" a character; it's one of those few occurrences that happen overnight. I know you did a post similar to this about Rarity; so if you're really serious about trying to like Applejack, watch all the episodes and keep a steady eye on her. Liking a character is partially understanding their sense of humor; your perspective of the best pony depends solely on who you are and how you act.

The point is, you either like a character or you don't.  You can't force yourself to like a character, just like you can't force yourself to like a person.

If you don't like generation 4 Applejack you could always check out generation 1 Applejack and see if you like her there is a generation 3 Applejack as well, plus a baby applejack, but baby applejack and third gen applejack don't appear in a show or movie unlike generation 1 Applejack which appears in mlp rescue from midnight castle.

I really only care about g4 characters.

Poor AppleJack. She's really a cardboard cut out.

You know I felt the same way, forever I have always, and still think Fluttershy is best pony. As for Applejack she was always my least fav., but as time has went on I have a fondness for her that has grown a lot since I first laid eyes on her. So I think with time we can all love Applejack.

I didn't like AJ too much at first either, but then I kind of realized that I really admired her family values and relationships. She's not only tough on the outside, but the inside as well.

In Tanks for the Memories, Pinkie Pie says that AJ "cries on the inside"
Probably because she learned to be strong after her parents passed.

In her Christmas song, "Days Gone by", to me it sounds like it was originally sung to the three apple siblings by granny smith, as the song refers to the audience (in this case, AJ Big Mac and Apple Bloom) as "dears".
I can image Granny singing that to them to teach them to be thankful for the memories they did have with them, and to not dwell on the fact that they're gone.

Applejack at times gets these episodes where she doesn't agree with things that are different and wants to change it. There is the one where AJ tries to change Pinkie's family traditions and she backed off on that. Then there is Countess Coloratura where AJ gets her way and Countess Coloratura is dead.

She's been my favourite since day one, so, if you're too blind to see, I can't help you.

(Hey, we all have our likes and dislikes. Nobody's perfect.)

Thank you for replying to my topic. :)

Apple jack is my 4th favorite out of all of them but i think i start to like her when her and rarity had that sleepover at twilight house (if you seen any of my post you know I HATE RARITY with a passion.. she is the most annoying out of all of them)

I didn't like Applejack then either. The point of the episode was that they where both being u unreasonable

I've never thought of that before. Also where Apple Bloom' s cutie mark? :D

The point of The Mane Attraction is that you shouldn't be something your not. That you should be yourself and not try to hide that.

Though another lesson that should be taken is timing and approach. Do we really need to inject friction and fracturing in the personnel right before a scheduled event? Most often it would be difficult to recover a concert if it falls apart considering the complexity.

Hooray! I can now indulge you in my obsessive obsession with best pony!!

His was originally a message to a friend when they asked me why I liked her, so her you go.

I am indeed an Applejack fan. Please, do not take this the wrong way, i enormously respect and appreciate your views, but personally i can't stand Rainbow Dash. For me, she's scarily overrated. She seems to be the perfect Mary-Sue in my eyes - rainbow hair, big wings, blue skin, pink neon eyes, bad ass personality, insane capabilities and good singing voice. I've always disliked how much more negative she always is compared to her friends. She's the only one who stood out to me to be a member of the mane 6 that might one day end up really upsetting some-pony. But i can understand why some people like her. People sometimes magnetise towards overpowered, awesome characters such as herself. I know i do. But i like AJ because she's the closet to Rainbow, but she's special. And underrated. I usually take a liking to underappreciated characters and learn to love them. To me, she's always kind of been a role model. Her relationship with her family is sadly something i've always missed out on and i enjoy learning about friendship and how to nurture relationships with kin. She's a country girl, like me, and is strangely adorable with her cow girl hat and cute little accent. I also find her very pretty. Were she a real human, well, tanned skin and blonde hair is certainly what models tend to attempt to mould themselves into these days. I also like her because she always seems to be there for everyone, and appears as the second main protagonist aside from Twilight, often having the final say for the group and responsibly making decisions. She also loves her friends ans much as she loves her family which is just like me :) She's so gosh darn adorable XD Theym appul pouts are just tooo much, and her country jibberish is absolutely precious!! She may be underdeveloped but she's always had something very special with me personally, not to OP but still a sharp eyed bad-ass, not to pretty but beautiful in her own way, not to smart but sharp witted, not too kind but warm-souled. She seems to be, genuinely, the kindest member of the group. I think she represents a little bit of everypony's element, which unfortunately i cannot say about Rainbow Dash. Just because i see no kindness or generosity in the way she sometimes treats her friends. Applejack may be second-best to RD in some aspects but that's why i love her. She's so humble about it, accepting herself and just being so... nice. And positive despite the work and past she bears on her shoulders. She's simple, yes, but that's the beauty of her. She doesn't need a fancy character development or a super unique aspect to make her any better than anypony else. She's just wonderful the way she is :3 She hasn't got many good episodes so far sadly but hopefully will improve in s6. All her episodes are about family, which is good but gets a bit tedious :I Applejack has just become, for me, so much more than just a figure in a TV show. For me she's shaped so much of my personality, so many choices, so many hobbies, even the way i dress! I have so much to thank her for. It feels like she's my sister. On the odd times my mind treats me with dreams about her and i have never woken up so happy in my life because of how much she has influenced me, it feels so real ^^

I dunno. You have to have a level of maturity to appreciate her I guess.

I see your 99 years old. I hope you have a happy 100th! :D But seriously thank you for replying. Defintley the detailed post so far. And of course the most passionate. I'd expect nothing less from Applejack' s number one fan! :D I disagree with your assessment of Rainbow Dash. She's one of the least Mary Sue characters on Tue show. In Sonic Rainboom she has anxiety about not being able to pull of a sonic rainboom. In Testing Testing 1,2,3 she has learning difficulties. Not to mention Rainbow Dash Even good t kicked out of flight school. I would agree that initially she does appear to be the stereotypical hot head who never fails in her pursuits. But we quickly we that she is just as flawed as everyone else. She's also one of the most supporting. Just look at Hurrican Fluttershy or Flight To The Finish. Even when Fluttershy is afraid she will fail Rainbow is there to cheer her on. Scootaloo was worried about the fact the she couldn't fly. Rainbow of her it didn't matter and she was awesome anyways. You said in your post that you tend to like underappreciated characters more. I'm the same way. Not for Applejack though. I moderately liked Spike. He's the type of character that the writers usually like to hate. He's also the type of character I feel the most immediate like and sympathy for. At the end of your post said liking Applejack requires a certain amount of maturity. I believe that miss 99 years old! Also Applejack' s Day Off was a bad episode. DUH NUH NUH! Oh no I didn't like an Applejack episode! :D. Arguably I'd say it took more maturity to like Spike early on. As opposed to most people only liking him in season six. But whatever. I really appreciate you posting this here. (Even if you already posted it from before.) I think I'll try and research some Applejack episodes.

The problem with Rainbow Dash is that unlike all the other main characters her mistakes tend to actually have a large chance of HURTING others... yet she ether doesn't get punished at all or she'll get punished as much as one of the other mane 6 would for doing something much more minor.

Like people bitch endlessly at Rarity for not getting punished at the end of Sweet and Elite... but nothing she did in that episode was actively dangerous or harmful to anything. Rainbow Dash does things that can actively be dangerous and hurt others in episodes like Tanks for The Memories, robs stuff in Read it and Weep... and gets no punishment. It's just a far higher level of the character getting passes, and she doesn't have the excuse of "villain in hte process of reformation" Discord and Starlight do.

Almost none of the main characters get punished. Even in Princess Spike all the other ponies eventually helped him. In Lesson Zero Twilight was five seconds away from getting punished when her friends stepped in. They said it wasn't her fault. Even though it clearly and undeniably was. Celsita almighty Sun goddess backs down. Even though this was one time if any Twilight deserved punishment. So don't point out Rainbow Dash. None of the characters are perfect. If they where then they'd be Mary Sue' s. They all have flaws. Yes sometimes they don't pay for their mistakes. But for the most part I think they learn there lesson.

There are all the reasons to like Applejack. She's the most reliable, she has a Southern accent and she's so safe with herself.
