I think that rainbow dash has an older sibling that was mean to rainbow dash when they were younger .Rainbow figured that she would be able to use scootaloo as an example that if she ever got a younger sister she would never be mean to her .

I think due to her personality she would be an only child. I guess the rest of the Mane Six have siblings, so it would be fine for her not to have any.

After having watched Parental Glidance, do you think Rainbow is an only child? I honestly think that this episode implies that she is an only child with her parent''s obsession over her.

Unless the show specifically says otherwise, I am going to assume she is an only child.

I did not see any pictures of another pony, and the topic surely in some form or another would have come up. Whether be RD or Scootaloo asking... or her parents just letting her know so and so is fine.

There's no way RD has any siblings while getting that much attention, otherwise there's some seriously bad favoritism in her family.

Also it makes her relationship with Scootaloo more special, especially with how quick the latter befriended her parents

I am still going with the assumption that Rainbow Blaze is Dash's older brother. It has no influence on how I view Dash and Scootaloo, nor does Dash's personality suggest a birth order. 

 

 

Also until I was in college, I was very much like Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust. I'm the oldest sibling. That and the two massive studies kinda put birth order theory on life support. 

What gives me some pause is the lack of tell tale signs of another child in the recent episode. I suppose everything could be explained, but it is the strongest piece of evidence that she is a  single child. Surprisingly birth order theory may not support personality evidence, but since the theory suggests that parents will spoil their youngest kid. 

Of course, it could all be a cartoon with things made up season to season and have no consistent rhyme or reason to real world events and psychology.

Parental Glideance really seems to completely confirm that she is indeed an only child. Her parents were the classic case of having absolute, extreme enthusiasm in RD because she was the only kid they had, so the attention never had to be split up between siblings. Also no photos or anything of other children in their household, that is another obvious giveaway.

I read a fanfic somewhere where she had a group of brothers who were all hardcore jocks, kinda like Bulk Biceps. I actually like that headcanon. Shows where her tomboyish personality came from.
