SXSW 2017: Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces

At SXSW 2017, a huge amount information has been dropped on us relating to the 1 hour Sonic Panel.

*Sonic Mania delayed to Summer 2017

 

*Flying Battery Zone Revealed

 

*Project Sonic 2017 now has a title: Sonic Forces

 

*Sonic Forces Gameplay Unveiled

 

*Instrumental Work In Progress version of title theme for Sonic Forces previewed.

Honestly; I'm not bothered by the delay for Mania. As long as we get a quality product in the end; I'm good, and all indications lead to the Taxman-lead effort being nothing but quality.

 

As for Forces I remain cautiously optimistic. I have a feeling they'll be going for the gameplay style of Colors and Generations, and if they keep to that, they should at least have a decent game on their hands.

As someone who hasn't had a lot of experience with Sonic, I have to say that things look promising for the games. I am hoping that forces will be good, so if I get the Switch than I can play it.

I'm surprised that both games are coming to the Nintendo Switch. I recall Sonic Generations made it to the 360 and PS3, but only the 3DS(No Nintendo Wii)

Was just about to create a topic on this... I'm so hyped for both of them:D I'm 100% positive that Sonic Mania is gonna be a blast but I really do hope they don't screw Forces up like they usually do with 3D games, though the gameplay footage does indeed seem quite promising.

Sonic Colors, Unleashed, and (in my opinion) the Storybook series were not really screwed up

Yeah they were fine, but not as good as they could have been. The only 3D games that stand out for me are the SA series, (mostly SA2B), Generations and Colors. Oh, and of course the top 3 are The Black Knight, The Secret Rings and THE BEST OF THE BEST --------------> SONIC 06 :^)

Looking at gameplay footage for Forces, and I am a bit more optimistic. It looks like they are definitely going back to the last 3D formula that actually worked (Unleashed minus werehog, Colors, Generations), and now I have hope.
