Feather Bangs' reasons for his actions + Why did he need help

One thing that confused me about "Hard to Say Anything" was what was Feather Bangs' reason for trying to woo Sugar Belle and doing so in such a jerk fashion?

Nothing was said about who he was or why he was going to such extremely rude measures to pursue Sugar Belle. Are there any established reasons for his behavior? 

Plus why at the end did they decide to have Feather Bangs have a problem talking to mares. I feel it completely contradicted his behavior towards Sugar Belle  I would have just put him on the spot about his actions throughout the episode or just let him walk off to mope over his defeat to Big Mac instead of the CMC's helping him for some problem that he never had throughout the episode.

Are there any reasons for why this was never explained in the episode.

Why was he going to such rude lengths? Why was Big Mac going to such rude lengths? Both of them wanted to impress Sugar Belle, and they both went totally overboard doing so, making her uncomfortable in the end. Featherbangs methods just happened to be flashier and more extreme than Big Mac. He wasn't anymore of a jerk to her than Mac was, just kind of a jerk to Mac, stepping all over him to get her attention.

As for why he has a problem talking to mares, it makes perfect sense. He's good at getting their attention, with his appearance and singing and flashy showing off, but after that? If you want to date you have to get to know someone, have conversations, learn about each other. Feather Bangs could get their attention but couldn't keep it because he wasn't sure how to do all that stuff after the initial "Wooing".

Big Mac was initially polite with her and was quite gentle about it. Plus Big Mac's "rude lengths" were brought upon by the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

Plus as the CMC's asked. Why put so much effort into Sugar Belle when he had 3 other mares who wanted him?

I think poor Feather Bang would have stand a better chance with the Bronies if they didn't make him like Justin Bieber. However, unlike Bieber and Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Feather DOES have a good heart. While Gaston selfishly went after his Belle and even tried to kill her true love (getting himself killed as karma punishment), Feather accepted the fact that Sugar Belle loved Big Mac. Feather actually has a future, while Gaston ended up dead.

I think him having difficulties talking with girls on a personal level is something a lot of young men can relate to. I think the episode would have been better if it focused on that, rather than harshly deconstructing fairy tale tropes.

Still, Big Mac acted that way because the CMC convinced him that was how you properly attract a mare. Whether Featherbangs came to the same conclusion on his own or was told by somepony else doesn't matter, he acted the same way for the same reason, to try and "Earn" Sugar Belle's affection.

Maybe he wasn't interested in the other mares? He was interested in Sugar Belle.

Plus the fact that Feather sings like a boy band!

It's very unfortunate for such a good-hearted pony like Feather to be shown as someone insensitively one-uping another. Not to mention his innocent cutie mark of a pink feather surround by two beating hearts can be seen something suggestive...

Like I said before, at least Feather's nicer than Gaston. In my opinion, they wasted a perfectly good character!

Man, it was more than obvious that he was modeled after Justin , it's just that he's another character trying to get a waifu being voiced by the original waifu thief
