Do you think the reason for the Mini-Hiatus for Season 7 is due to poor planning?

Mid-seasons are common amongst a lot of cartoons, especially MLP has had a couple. I believe it's partly so the crew can have more time to finish off the last half, plus this shortens the gap between seasons. The belief being that it's better for a couple of hiatuses  that last a few months each than one long hiatus that lasts that same amount of time.

It could be like "Rick and Morty" with close to TWO YEARS between seasons! Season two ended on October 4, 2015. Season three episode one aired as an April Fools gag on, yes, April 1st, 2017. The season begins it's normal run n July 30th, 2017. Keep in mind that in total so far, we've seen only a total of TWENTY-ONE episodes of "Rick and Morty"!

Well I generally think it's because not all of the episodes are completely finished yet, given how an episode is only finished like 8 weeks before airing.

I think it's because many families are away during the summer  . Nothing new really, these hiatuses have been around since S4 I think

Seems to be more about the series than the film.

From what I've heard, it's to have MLP 'presence' during key financial periods during the year. They've likely put the movie and series and comic together, so all three can help each other out.

It also serves to shorten the hiatus between series'. The rest of season 7 has been finished for a long time, but season 8 hasn't.

I believe it's cause many family's are away on holiday. If they wait a few weeks the viewers are more, so they make more money out of it.
