general Interest and New Friends.

Hi there!

I wanted to make this topic to sort of help present people to each other and make some new friends with the same interests. :)

Maybe there are people you've seen on this forum and would like to become friends with, talk to, or, just get to know better in general but haven't.

Why not post a couple of interests and see if you can't spark a conversion or, maybe even a new friendship with people?

Good luck, I hope many of you make lots of new friends with the same interest! ^_^

Interests:

  • Art
  • Philosophy
  • Video Games
  • Sci-fi
  • Fantasy
  • Anime

There are certainly many members I'v seen frequently that I'd like to be more acquainted with. There are also many old members who no longer visit that I would have liked to know.

I'm a fairly old member and unfortunately don't know to many new ones.
I tend to be laid-back in that of never really having pushed myself into a scene of urgency to know many people on this forum.

Not to add a negative note or anything I'll will say this: For me personal it probably doesn't mean much weather I'v wanted to be friends with, talk to, or, get to know anyone I currently don't. (new member, old member or, other wise)

I say that because these days I tend not to be the most active member here and, I feel like 9 times out of 10 don't really fit the compatible friend bill.

To compare friendships to cookies - "Some cookies are soft and some cookies are hard. And even if every single one of them crumbles, just try not to let them get stale"
Unfortunately for me my inactivity tends to lead to staleness and missed opportunities. lol
:derp:

Thank you! @DaringDashie

You have a kind heart.

I'm a Trance nut - also into Deep House, Chill and all kinds of electronic music right now. I love music - all of it.

Also a follower of Luna - Our Princess of the Night. I have embraced my inner shadow.

Anyway, I've made acquaintances here, but no friends yet. But that is okay, I'm new to the Brony scene and the forums. This is such a large community - but I really like it.

I love FlutterDash. I really f**king love FlutterDash. By far my favorite ship in this fandom or any other fandom. I mean that by the way. I really love FlutterDash. Mlp, Hanazuki, Steven Universe, Unbreakble Kimmy Schmidt, Psycho Pass, Sword Art Online, are some of my favorite shows.

I love the Republic Commando books that Karen Travis wrote. Frozen is one of my favorite movies of all time. And I love those Tinker Bell direct too DVD movies that Disney made a few years ago.

I like crude and lewd humor. I also swear like a sailor in real life. My taste in music is mostly shit, but I am open too new suggestions. I suppose I usually like the bitchy character in most stories, as long as they have a reason too be a bitch or aren't actually a bitch in the first place. Which is why Weiss is my favorite RWBY character and Rarity is my favorite mlp character.

Spelunky is one of my favorite video games. I have played like seventy hours so far and I still haven't made it too Olmec. But I don't care becasue that game is still fun as hell. 80% of the games I own I haven't finished and probaly never will. I love things that don't take its self too seriosuly, but isn't f**king stupid.

lol I don't know.

My second fav is Rarity (nothing will beat Pinkie) I'm basically you but without so much cursing but I don't mind.  Also whenever I show people my music they start pretending they're having a seizure and start yelling rape. I like my music but for what I've seen it sounds like farts.

Pinkie Pie is second from the bottom for me. For awhile I liked her more than Twilight, but that was only because Twilight was so boring. I mean Twilight was my favorite character during season one and two. Also do you mean music you made?

That is my problem - I enjoy serious stuff.

{and now for more than you ever wanted to know about Mirage77}

Really serious stuff. Very serious meaning of life stuff. It causes me to recoil from 90% of the crap in the mainstream, which seems to me nothing more than a corporate guilt complex (you should like this, you should wear that, you should believe this, blah, blah blah). Some people seem to think that the meaning of life is being controlled. I reject that notion. Life is wonderful and terrible - I crave for the freedom to see and live in its reality. But I am a clown, an abolition of grace, a terrible villain to himself and others. I feel all the pain but I also inflict it. So science reveals no paradoxes - but my spirit begs to differ.

I didn't ask for any gifts of insight, or visions, or even tendencies. I didn't ask, didn't try, actually didn't even desire to become a fan of MLP. But here I am.

All I can say is that the show makes me laugh to tears - it is just the funniest, most uplifting show I've seen in my life.

So what would it be like to meet others that feel the same way? Could it be that Equestria means the same?

Is it a metaphor for a soul seeking wonder and innocence? It is just silly time? Or is there just enough well disguised wisdom to inspire real sight through the dim fog of daily BS?

I've seen some troubled people here - venting, reaching out, sometimes on their knees begging to be listened to (figuratively). People wanting to make a connection. As a man who has so much experience with sorrow, I felt compelled to stay - just in case. Just maybe, I could share something, anything, that would make them feel better - no matter how small.

But I don't pander. I don't fake it for praise or for comfort. Comfort kills (refer to paragraph #2).

Peace and beauty live in truth. The truth may not always feel good but it is the only good. This is the magic of friendship. The ponies would tell you the same. (Good stories tell the truth).

And so, rather playfully, I embrace my shadow. A lonely exile from Equestria. Dear Princess Luna, I am your child of the night.

I don't know why I have the compulsion to answer this thread, but here goes:

  • I have had an interest in Cartoons for a long time, and I remember watching reruns of some of the best of the 90's and early 2000's when I was a kid. I've been trying to watch some that I've missed recently, and I'm currently on Steven Universe, which as of now is probably my favorite cartoon of the past decade. :)
  • I've been a gamer for most of my life, first game I ever played was Pokémon Red on an old Gameboy Color when I was 6. Ever since, it's been one of my main interests. I currently play a lot of Paladins: Champions of the Realm, and I mainly play tanks. I've also been playing some Pokémon Silver here and there.
  • I'm fairly invested in current events (interested may be the wrong word for that though... :/), and political philosophy. A note about the latter, I consider myself a Libertarian Socialist, which is somewhat like a less anarchistic version of Noam Chomsky's political beliefs.
  • I have an interest in Science fiction, and the future itself. At times, I imagine what the future could be like just for fun. Heck, I was going to write a book about such a thought, but I got really bad writer's block and had to stop after two pages... Oh well, not everyone can write a book, right?
  • I have also recently have developed an interest in internet memes. Can't quite pick a favorite meme, there's a bit too much greatness to choose from...
  • I'm in the process of (slowly...) developing a potential table-top game. To give an idea about what it is, I'll say it's somewhat inspired by hero shooters (Paladins, Overwatch), and somewhat inspired by Heroclix, and also even drew some inspiration from Borderlands and Fallout. It might take some time to get the ball rolling...
  • I listen to a LOT of music from video game soundtracks. I started really listening to them on YouTube about a year ago now, after thinking about how great some tracks were (Brine Cave from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the Anthem of Braves from Disgaea to name a couple that I really liked).

As for members I've had friendships with on here, there are a few (including a couple of boyfriends, actually). But, I've been somewhat inactive, and have been conversing somewhat infrequently with other members of the forum. That may be why I posted this. I don't really talk to people these days at all. Plus, I really feel like I need somebody. I know what's implied there, and I'll admit it's partially correct. I may be looking for a little bit more than I probably should be honestly...

Hi there, @DaringDashie! It's great to see users reaching out to one another to make new friends. One of the major reasons why I joined the forums (and stayed) is because of how friendly and outgoing this community is. :)

There is already a thread dedicated to friend making, so I will need to lock this one. However, please feel free to share a bit about yourself in the thread below! I'm sure you'll meet many new friends. ^^
