Im not really much into the Fallout series, I mean the earlier Fallouts were pretty much alright but the Fallout 4 pretty much destroyed the roleplaying possibilities in that game I really hope that they didnt go that route this time.

I think Fallout 4 is actually great and leaves plenty of room for roleplaying, particularly with mods. That's saying a lot for a game that isn't exactly an RPG.

What is there to discuss? All we got was a teaser for a new game that we don't know anything about. I guess it's cool that it's a new game and not a remaster/port, though.

I would say that Bethesda shouldn't have kept us waiting so long for something so short, but if they hadn't done that we wouldn't have gotten this:

Expectations, hopes, dreams that will eventually be crushed by Mr. Todd when E3 happens.

And I mean, for a teaser, we actually get quite a lot of information out of it. Vault 76 is a control vault that was set to open 25 years after the great war so it's definitely a prequel of some sort. The date on the pip-boy confirms it.

Also, and i could be wrong, vault 76 has been referenced before. In fallout 3, during the mothership zeta dlc, one of the vault-tec employees (whos name was giles) referenced the vault in one of the captive alien recording logs. He was visiting the construction site.

however, that brings me a concern. If the vault was under construction at the time giles was abducted, and the trailer said "you must rebuild" does this mean fallout 76 will be similiar in gameplay to fallout shelter?

That's interesting. I didn't notice the date on the Pip-Boy.

I like my dreams uncrushed, so I think I'll keep my expectations low for now. This Kotaku article mentions that "although the studio [Bethesda] hasn’t yet said what it is, we hear it’s an online game of some sort." That's not necessarily bad, but I want to wait until we hear more details at E3.

No, panic and pre order everything now!

Never preorder anything. I did so with Destiny 2 and at that moment I learned that lesson. Wait for release, first impressions, reviews and then decide. Even if you are hardcore fan of the series.

I was hoping on TES6 in Black Marsh, but it seems I'll need to wait. Tried Fallout 3, wasn't really my setting. Prefer fantasy over sci-fi, but I think new Fallout might help me understand which direction Bethesda might go wih TES.

Hell yeah! More Fallout! :yay:

The question now is, where is vault 76 located, and what year is it?

Virginia, specifically West Virginia if the John Denver song is anything to go by. Also, vault 76 was set to open 20 years post-war but the pip boy shows 25. Minor retcon but it's nothing to get worked up over, really.

Was disappointed to hear that Obsidian won't be making it... Another Bethesda Fallout... Woohoo...

Honestly I used to love this series so much, and as much as I enjoy Fallout 3, its glitchyness is unacceptable, especially the playstation version. Bethesda's treatment of the Playstation versions of their games is abysmal and makes me wonder why bother releasing them on the platform at all? I forgave Fallout 3 because at the time it was a pretty advanced game and New Vegas healed some of those wounds.

But Fallout 4... It's a mess. So much removal of the roleplaying elements, boring repeatable quests, same performance issues as always, terrible treatment of the mod community, paid mods, mediocre DLC...

Bethesda really burned me so much that it's hard to get excited for another Bethesda Fallout... I mean I want to be excited, but it's really hard...

Looks like non-creation club mods won't be allowed.

https://gadgets.ndtv.com/games/news/no-fallout-76-mods-outside-bethesda-creation-club-gameplay-unlike-rust-report-1860630

I was skeptical before but now I refuse to support this game. Mods are what gave the other games more life and fixed the issues bethesda failed to do.

If they do this with Starfield as well I will never buy another Bethesda game again.

From what I've heard about it... I'm heavily disappointed, for multiple reasons.

First off, it's not even going to be an actual RPG. What it sounds like is Minecraft's Survival Mode but skinned to look like Fallout, even with the Fallout 4 Engine. And I never liked playing Minecraft too much, particularly that way. It is really boring to be honest.

Secondly, what the plot seems to be wouldn't remotely fit within the Fallout canon. If this Vault WERE successful, we'd have heard about a large settlement in West Virginia at some point. We have information on the Vault itself, but it clearly didn't develop into a large enough settlement (when it's literally just outside the Capital Wasteland...). Also, it must be noted according to the info, the game takes place in the wrong year.

Thirdly... It's not where it should be. No New Orleans? No Boneyard? No Chicago? No Texas? Honestly, Bethesda, are you drunk for approving this? You know that you can't have ANOTHER game on the east coast... Seriously, this is the THIRD ONE to take place there since Fallout 3. Please no.

Yeah, definitely NOT looking forward to this game. Hopefully, they don't do something dumb like this again, because I'll probably play nothing Bethesda if they screw up Fallout again. I actually LIKE Fallout 4 (sure I never play it, but I really like the concept, and think most people that complain about it whine because it's the newest game JUST like they did with New Vegas... Then Fallout 4 came out and they totally FLIPPED...). Thanks for trying to hype us up and then throw out this garbage, Bethesda. Really nice.

I've honesty really enjoyed Fallout 4 since I bought it. I've honestly enjoyed Bethesda's Fallout games (aside from Fallout 3). This looks like an interesting Fallout game, which I'm definitely looking forward to trying. We'll have to wait and see what is really going to happen, because we can't really tell much from the trailer, aside from the time and location.

Also says it will be retconning stuff from previous games. No thank you.

Every bit of news that comes out about this game seems more and more disappointing.

Another Obsidian made game, unfortunately, is unlikely in the foreseeable future. I'm actually fine with Bethesda's Fallout games, but Obsidian had suffered from too many layoffs right after New Vegas, which included almost a third of their entire company, from 2012-2015, along with their lead designer and writer, Chris Avellone. A lot of their important members on the New Vegas team had also left (including Joe Sanabria and Jason Sereno, their lead artist and UI artist), and only some of the former team remain in the company. Unless they somehow get back together again, it's not likely that they will ever produce another Fallout game, or at least one that meets our expectations. However, the company has recovered somewhat, and are working on other games like Pillars of Eternity.

New Vegas was also a glitchy game too, just for an entirely different reason – it was done on a tight schedule, and some of the content had to be cut, and there was only a short amount of time for the developers to dedicate themselves on bug-fixing. Some of those bugs were fixed later on, but it's still quite buggy on the console versions, since I encountered frequent freeze-ups while playing it, just like Fallout 3. It is a more fleshed out game, though, and thanks to its emphasis and detail on lore, some people can kind of overlook those bugs.

I didn't think Fallout 4 was a bad game. I actually think it's better than 3, though the Creation Club mess that had went on recently had obviously turned a lot of fans off.

Sadly, you're right.

Don't get me wrong, NV had problems, but it was like... Clearly heading toward a more complete and better product if they had more time. It was a step in the right direction.

Again, don't get me wrong, I think Fallout 4 is a good game, but it has a lot of lost potential because of design choices Bethesda made that just... Don't make sense and of course the creation club. The biggest issue I have with it though is Bethesda just should stop making games for consoles if they are going to only really care about how well the PC version runs. If they want to make it just on the PC, then do so, but I think everyone can agree: there is no reason for a game that is not that pretty like Fallout 4 to struggle to hit 30FPS on even the PS4 Pro at 1080p. That's just asinine. It's clear that Bethesda just doesn't care about optimizing.

If it's anything like Fallout 4, then I am skipping this one entirely.
