Woke up this morning and I was in the mood for "Secret Agent Man", and I noticed some parts of it seemed to match up with the old Teen Titans theme.

A heck of a lot of (classic) rock songs sound similar to me because they highlight the chord progression in similar ways... Like Sweet Home Alabama, Werewolves of London (or whatever it's called), etc. Those songs are ruined for me now forever. Although I never much cared for the Werewolves of London song either way.

But if you want comparisons to themes... There's always Trigun's OP compared to Black Dog by Led Zeppelin, and also Lupin the Third Part 2's theme compared to the Rocky Theme. (I linked to the Maynard Ferguson version because that's the one I've always known lol)

This Bakuman ED also reminds me distinctly this song.

I have always thought that Make a Wish from Pinkie Pride sounded an awfully lot like This is Our Big Night from the first Equestria Girls movie

Ever since I was like 4 years old I thought these two songs sounded very similar. I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly which song it resembled as I wasn't so great at videogames at that age and reaching Metroplis Zone was pretty hard for me. But eventually, maybe 3-5 years after the fact, I finally made the connection since I would oftentimes hear John Mellencamp playing on the radio during my car ride home from school.

The similarities between these two songs ignited a huge controversy within the Japanese anime community back in the mid 2000s (namely on Japanese exclusive websites like ふたばちゃんねる  and ニコニコ動画). Iirc there was discussion of potential lawsuits, etc. but I believe The Offspring was unaware and certain fans were contemplating whether or not they should contact the band (The Offspring was a pretty big deal in Japan back then). I am assuming the unanimous decision was to keep the band oblivious so the show wouldn't be cancelled/ compromised. Needless to say, I am quite happy with the outcome as Kodomo no Jikan was an awesome anime through and through (although, admittedly the manga WAS better, but I digress ( -.-)/)

2:20 into this reminds me of The Beatles' later era stuff. I can't point at a specific song, unfortunately, but it just really does!

 

Hopefully I'm not alone! I've never been able to get into Metroid games, so I actually ended up hearing this song in Smash Bros out of Metroid context and it got to that part and I was like "Wow. Something about this is soooo The Beatles", even if it doesn't point toward a specific song, the vibe is strong in my mind. lol

Otherwise, there's Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum's Route 209 music, which is very similar to Electric Light Orchestra's Telephone Line (the part around 2:02). I first played Diamond while hearing this song for the first time, so it was hard to miss!
