LucasB 196 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 It seems like a great idea. Personally I love watching SFMs, and other 3D cartoons like Miraculous (Marinett and Tikki are so adorable xD). If Hasbro were to make it 3D it obviously would be much better looking than the already amazing SFMs, and it would feel a lot more lifelike, tangible and immersing. Fhaolan 4,484 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 Only if they get the right animation studio like they did for FiM. Remember that the Newborn Cuties animations were done less than a year before FiM premiered, using the same Flash animation program, and in one of those animations the character's mouths weren't even animated. It's all down to the talent of the artists involved, and only a very little to do with the software package.

RDDash 19,207 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 (edited) It would probably be really cool if the show was 3d enhanced, like the show is in 2d but occasionally the 3d elements would pop into existence. It could work great for the action sequences if it done right Edited August 18, 2018 by R.D.Dash
MangoFoalix 25,038 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 I'm personally not too fond of the idea of it being 3D animation. 2D animation just ages better to be fair.
Iam 525 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 2D animation is simple and eye-pleasuring. 3D animation is complex and... too complex. While 3D animation may implement interesting things, I would stay on 2D animation, because it's just... ah, I stated it at the start of the 1st sentence.
Quinch 1,120 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 I'd be more partial to 2D - while 3D is cheaper to produce nowadays and allows smoother and more consistent graphics, 3D models also tend to be more rigid, whereas 2D can get away with sacrificing physical consistency for flexibility and expression. Hierok 11,832 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 Rather 2D instead of 3D. The movie style or duocartoonist style would be perfect, but that is to much to ask I guess. 1 If I don't understand something or Interpret it wrong, I'm dutch. Matraxial Artemi 2,231 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 If the My Little Pony Generation 5 is 3D is gonna kinda awesome, but the negative side on it is the release date for per seasons or episodes cause of the rendering of the light and textures and basically the Character Models like Apple Jack and Rarity. That is will be a lot of work just to create one Character Model of the My Little Pony Generation 5, So yea.... The Friendship is will last for Eternity
Ganondorf8 11,401 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 I wouldn't mind MLP tackling the 3D realm but as some have already said, it needs to be handled correctly otherwise it will end up looking terrible. The right team who have passion and dedication towards their craft would be ideal here.
Celli 4,339 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 I heard rumors it's going to use 2D animation style by Boulder media, the same guys who animated stuff like The Amazing World of Gumball.
cmarston1 5,959 August 18, 2018 Share August 18, 2018 I hope not, because if I am being honest, from what the fandom has produced, I think it would be better for MLP to stay away from CGI.

While I most certainly understand an aversion to 3d animation, I think it is rather unfair to judge the abilities of an animation studio based on the abilities of fans. There are countless 3d models of Disney characters that look like nightmare fuel, but that doesn't mean that 3d can't look amazing.

BornAgainBrony 2,398 August 19, 2018 Share August 19, 2018 I think Care Bears are reason enough to NOT go that route. To make it look GOOD, it would probably cost far more than they're willing to spend.
Phosphor 11,532 August 19, 2018 Share August 19, 2018 I hope Gen 5 will be 2D. I'm not a fan of CGI. I've seen enough badly animated cgi shows.
EpicEnergy 23,224 August 21, 2018 Share August 21, 2018 (edited) Well, as far as I know of, no one can state for a fact that generation 5 will be either 3D or 2D. To give my opinion on the matter, I don't care whether it's 3D or 2D; as long as it looks amazing and not forced, rushed, or unprofessional, I'm fine it being 3 or 2-dimensional. Some of the SFM stuff is very good, considering the limited budget, so it's not impossible to believe it could work. But I trust fans with this more than someone just trying to earn a paycheck.
