Other than online, can you name what else Nintendo is behind on?

So what if they're behind. Their games are supposed to be fun as video games should be, not trying to rub it in other competitors faces. And I always have a lot of fun with the Nintendo systems. Their strange way of playing games like motion control and Emphases on getting people in the same room to play together makes them stand out from the crowd. And besides, I'm not an online gamer, so your argument about they being behind on Online services. has practically no sway on me and therefore is hardly convincing of me to change my opinion on the company.

They were behind when it came to HD, mobile gaming, technical specs, and a few other things that I can't think of what they would be referred to as. Of course, when you've been a fan of Nintendo as long as I have, you get used to this kind of thing regarding their business practices. Does it annoy me? Yes because I feel they could do so much more but then if they were to have been the same as everyone else, their charm would've been lost a long time ago.

Or, you know, people have different tastes than you.

There’s only been one Mario game I’ve played that I actually loved, and that was Odyssey. I’ve seen playthroughs of the Paper Mario games and they look fun too.

But other than that they have Zelda, Metroid, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and lots of other properties. Meanwhile the only game I want to play that’s not on the Switch is the Spyro remakes. And there’s talks of that coming to Switch too, so if that happens I’ll have literally nothing to gripe about.

And they actually allow cross-platform play now, unlike some companies... *cough*Sony*cough*

Nintendo goes on a Quality over Quantity type deal and instead of making the same bland shooter game every year, they make quality games when they can. They also pioneered many aspects in video games you see now. So what if they slowed down?

My opinion us that they're pretty behind on some more mature games. I'm not saying really gross or inappropriate games, just something that is more action, first person shooting, and stuff like that. Most people want to busy a console that has a different variety of games. Not just lame kiddy games. Secondly, I think they're behind on Mario and games related. I mean, they could've made more of them that are really fun. All again, this is my opinion.

Blasphemy!

Nintendo have been late to the party many times, most notably in stubborn use of cartridge instead of cd and being constantly behind others graphically wise, but they have also been innovators when it comes to handheld consoles or motion sensors in gaming. They have their own thing going on, being unique is often the best market strategy.

They were behind with HD because the Wii was so underpowered, right?

They've since done HD and mobile gaming well. They've been pretty successful with mobile gaming.

Because they at least are trying something a little different. Have you seen their surprising success with Nintendo Labo. Some creative people, children AND adults are putting their cardboard Toy-Cons to interesting uses and showing that they can improve their programming skills and ideas in the Toy-Con garage.

I don’t get how not a single one of their many properties interests you at all. But that’s differing tastes for you. What you adore, another might hate, and vice versa.

And I don’t get why so many people love the 3 million flavors of brown military shooters, but hey, that’s their thing. Playing my light-hearted mascot platformers is more fun than caring what they do with their own personal time.

Well, to be fair, people might not want similar things from games as they want from cartoons. So saying that Nintendo's games are bit childish is fair point to make if that's how you feel. One can like cute cartoon about pink, talking horses and dislike lighthearted games thats are centred upon a yellow electric mouse or an Italian plumber. Cartoons are passive entertainment, whereas when playing video games you are the hero. People may like to watch cute things but may not necessarily want to play as them. It have nothing to do with self-awareness. These are  matters of taste and personal preferences after all.

And they weren't familiar with HD until the Wii U though that was a learning experience for them. For Nintendo, as @Pr0m4NV14 said, they are about quality over quantity though sometimes their plans don't quite go as well as they hoped. I'll never stop being a Nintendo fan but at the same time, I know not to be a fanboy as all that does is cause friction.

That’s not the problem here though. If they just said, “I’m not into Nintendo games because I’m not into cartoonish, lighthearted style games”, that would be one thing.

But you don’t get to sneer down you nose at something for being “kiddie” (literally calling it lame) as if it’s less worthy of the love that fans have for it, and then turn around and act like your personal “kiddie” tastes is above that.

They are not behind on everything, if that was the case why has the Switch sold 20 million units? People praise them because they make quality rather than rehash the same thing over and over and charge $50 for DLC on top of a base $60.

I don’t like shooters. I play games to relax, and all they do is stress me out. And Doom’s a bit too gory for my tastes.
