I don't like how it seems like Lauren Faust gets all of the credit and praise for creating the show

I think that Lauren Faust should be given some credit and praise, but not all of it. There are many people who have contributed to show just as much as and even more than Lauren Faust.

EQG seemed to be more a box-ticking exercise, especially with the massive success of Monster High. I still really, REALLY don't understand why it was made BEFORE the actual MLP movie, but then again, the Simpsons was on for decades before they finally released a movie. At least EQG went interesting directions once it had room to breathe, and Sunset Shimmer is genuinely great and got some lovely development. The minis were great, the dolls ... there's such a disconnect between the dolls, ESPECIALLY THE BOX ART, and the movie characters in terms of art.

Faust just gives off the air of thinking her properties should do 'better' when she keeps leaving due to creative differences. Her original IPs are nothing more groundbreaking than the stuff she is against. Yeah, approvals and systems are stupid and some of the ideas of what higher-ups want are hilarious, but other creators take limits and flourish with them. Monster High I originally skipped because I thought 'daughters of monsters' was so stupid but realised the series was a lot more tongue-in-cheek and darker than I gave it credit for and it got away with it. I mean, the main girl has her body parts fly off all the time!

I'd read your stuff  but then again, a liking for Cadenza probably means a liking for post Faust era, meaning it'd be pointless from my side. Still, have a reaction so you don't feel ignored.

I like Cadance because she is sweet, kind, upbeat and just all around fun. My favourite pony is Princess Luna, a pony of Faust's creation, and you come across as a 'purist' that will only go with Faust's vision and stick to S1 religiously, despite it being the starter season and prone to settling and tonal hiccups as all series are. This is where a lot of Faust fanpeople stick in the craw of people who dare like episodes outside of S1; just because Faust didn't kiss it with her big-eyed stick-waist pencil doesn't mean it's bad or not part of 'her vision'. I'll say it again; she comes across as throwing tantrums when TOY COMPANIES express a want and expectation for something to SELL TOYS. Should we write off all media as toy-selling junk? Absolutely not. But when you are called in to write a series about a line of toys explicitly produced to sell toys, you don't get to pout and take your ball home when people with more zeros after their net worth than you have teeth suddenly ring you up and tell you to have a wacky talking blob sidekick because marketing says the kids like it these days.

Lauren Faust's interview in the brony doc was so good 

gonna give that a rewatch :3

 

The other writers are great and all but it was her Faust's vision and she brought it to screen. The others did an amazing job with her world though.
