Do you/Have You Known Someone that has lived to be 100 years old?

There's one thing to reach 90 years of age, then there another thing to reach 100 years of age. Living to 100 years of age is considered to be one of the greatest human feats. Some people think that a 100-year old person could hardly function, but you'd be surprised about some of the people who lived to be 100 years old and beyond, which brings me to the question this topic is about (which was inspired by the creator of the topic who posted about a famous book author's passing [the author lived to be 104 years old]).

Have you or do you know anyone who's lived to be 100 years old or beyond?

I am very blessed to have known my great uncle. He lived in California and I went to his 100th birthday. It was amazing. He passed at 103 due to illness, but still, what an amazing life he lived.

No. The oldest relative I know of was a wonderful aunt who made it to a spry and active 93.  It’s too bad we couldn’t keep her forever.

I know a few others here and there who made it to their 90s but not 100.  It’s hard to believe, but very soon the last living WWII veterans will be centenarians.

My grandma who passed last year made it to 97. She sadly had dementia...ugh...it was tough. It's just to believe that we all are getting older by the day.

No, I haven't. But I knew some people who came pretty close to it (>95 years). Those people weren't related to me but to friends of mine. Within my family my maternal grandmother almost reached her 90's birthday before she passed away. My other grandparents passed away at a much younger age.

Well almost all of my great grandparents almost lived up to hundred years, oldest being my great grandmother at the age of 94 being also my oldest relative then so point is all of my great grandparents outside of my great grandfather on my mothers side lived up to their nineties. Therefore logically speaking I should technically be able to easily achieve the hundred years of a lifetime. While that isn't anything I want to do in particular I suppose it is a strange feeling to know if you don't you know simply die by your own hand that you'll actually live up to hundred years old as I am pretty sure that it'll be interesting hooning I'll be there fire spitting, hitting rev limiter then when I park people see this hundred year old dude with a flatbrim cap and a skateboard be like yo sup dudes?

A friend of my late great grandmother lived as far as 103 and it was astonishing how healthy she was. She didn’t need glasses, she didn’t have hearing trouble, she could stand pretty much perfectly. She was kind of a local icon who unfortunately sadly passed just last December.

My great-grandmother...I think? She refuses to tell anyone how old she is so I'm not entirely sure, but that sounds about right considering my grandmother is in her 70's and isn't the oldest of her siblings.

Yes.  Wasn't related to her but knew her when I was a kid.  She was my grandma's friend.  She lived to 103

My grand uncle is 99 right now and still alive, so he might make it that far as well.

My aunt's grandma lived to a bit over 100. She passed a couple of years ago though. :( My great grandma is also getting pretty close to 100 years old. I hope she makes it! Also, I would like to see her again before she goes. It's hard to visit during Covid.

This one person was 99 when I was much younger. We had a little birthday party for her. One of my “aunt in laws” was helping her do... activities  ? while I was with my cousin. I’d be surprised if she was still around  .

My dad's gym teacher lived to be something like 105. He Wrote a book called "The first 99 years" and was in the middle of the sequel called "The first 104 years" or something.

Most of my family makes it to atleast the late 80s, there has been a few 100+ in the family, and the only time they don't is when cancer decides they're only going to make it half way there or some weird accident, like getting struck by lightning.

My great aunt passed only six days before what would have been her 106th birthday. The second oldest relative I know of was my great grandmother who died the same year. She was 94.
