Today I discovered something really sad and I hope I'm proven wrong, it seems that Youtube may be cutting off the music or the audio from old videos due to copryight, check out this video, I can be sure that the video wasn't edited by the channel's owner as the channel is inactive for nearly a decade:

YouTube has been doing this for a long, long time, it just depends on the copyright owners. There are certain artists that block the audio on your video automatically if you use their music no matter what. Others block it if they find your video and don't like the content. Still others might give it a pass, but then the copyright changes hands and the new owner blocks it. It sucks but it's not really YouTube's fault since they are beholden to copyright law.

The only thing that irritates me about YouTube is that it doesn't show the number of dislikes. (But I don't have ads on YouTube because Google ads don't work in my country. I'm happy about that).

One thing that does suck is that the Playstation 5 no longer has an easily accessible and functional web browser like the Playstation 4 had. Your choices are to either jump through hoops to access a crude leftover browser that you aren't even supposed to be able to access or stick to downloadable media  apps. 

Compounding the problem is the fact that the Youtube app on PS5 has even more advertisements than the normal version if you can believe that.

Yeah, ads are getting through the ad blocker again. It's a never ending battle but it's so annoying. What do they care if you can skip the ads? They still get the money, don't they? Just like when we would go to the bathroom during commercials.

• I dont like the unskipable ads that forces the user to watch a product, a channel, a company or a service that they wont even use, and the worst are the ones from other countries
• I hate the clickbait videos, the thumbnail or title that is one thing but completly another thing
• The sensasionalist videos, you know, videos with alarming titles that misinform and mislead people when the problem is not that big
• The religious videos that attacks other beliefs, I respect all religions but the ones who attack non believers or other religions is something I really hate
• Some of the YouTube Kids videos are very unbearable, I have a 4 year old nephew I take care of and I put his favorite cartoons but the videos he sees on Youtube Kids are just.... trash, bad music repeated to insanity, bad draws and a repetitive background, and is obvious the people behind it only cares for views and monetize so they make trash content
• SOME reaction videos, there are some youtubers who overreact a simple video and is obvious and cringe that they are exagerating to gain views
• Let's play videos ... I mean.. what's their purpose??

What can be said that hasn't already 

I do not like advertisements in the slightest and oh how YouTube harasses you with them if you don't pay for their premium 
What's neat is on my phone if I refresh the page it gets rid of the ads 

I also distinctly remember being able to listen to music with my screen off around like 2012-2015 but at some point it stopped being possible and then not even a year later they announced listening to music and such with your screen off as some new fandangled feature they were reserving for premium users only, sly foxes the lot at google are.

Yeah, uBlock Origin had to comply and they made a separate "Lite" version due to some changes Google is forcing.  They're not the only extension to suffer, but for this case they're one of the bigger targets. It'll still work on other websites, just struggles on YT now. It should still be a battle on the Firefox side of things.

I've been trying different extensions to see if any of them blocks ads and only one actually worked really well. Look up "Iridium extension", it should be the one with 4.1 stars for Chrome and any browsers based on Chrome (like MS Edge).

There should be a section for ad blocking in the settings. It's the only one that consistently blocks ads all the time if told to block ads. Blue means it's enabled, grey means it's disabled.

It also has other QoL features so maybe worth playing around with it to get something you like.

I would also get 2 additional extensions:

- Sponsor Block. People have marked where sponsor segments are in videos and the extension will highlight and skip them for you. There are some exceptions, like vids where the entire thing is basically an ad, but it marks it clearly and lets you know about it.

- Return Youtube Dislike. It shows dislikes again on videos and uses the information of what was left before they removed dislikes from public view and new information from everyone that uses the extension.

I installed Sponsor Block after you posted this and I wonder how I ever did without it . I pay for premium so ads were never a problem, but it was so annoying still getting advertised to despite paying. Sure it's easy enough to skip sponsor spots by just skipping ahead a few seconds but Sponsor Block is just so much easier lol.

Call me Boomer, but I miss old youtube. Being 36 years old... Youtube was this weird web where you found amateur videos of people giving their real opinions or teaching something in a very "amateur" way. Now it's like TV... there's political propaganda, professional videos everywhere, clickbaits everywhere, Pink Press like X youtuber insults or has a relation with Y youtuber...

It was more underground. I miss old youtube...
