UN-official announcement: The beginning of the song polls!

All right, so I've been wanting to do this for a long time now, but I never was able to get around to it! 

INTRODUCING:

The start of the song polls!

Like I said above, this had been an idea I'd been toying with for a good while now. I thought it would be pretty fun to see what people's favorite songs are here, and eventually to find the majority's favorite song from each season. I'm starting with just S1 for right now, but if this catches on, I will do the other eight as well.

These songs are out of a list of 11 from season one that are in this competition. Disclaimer: There are a few songs less than 30 seconds (Mostly just Pinkie being goofy) that I did not include purely because of the fact that they were too short, too basic, and probably wouldn't beat the bigger songs like "At the Gala" or "Art of the Dress" anyway.

Double disclaimer: Since there were an odd number of songs, I selected two of them randomly out of the list to vote on before we get to the actual "tournament", if you will. Once one of these is ruled out, I can make the bracket, kinda like TWC.

And, obviously, feel free to discuss the pros and cons of the songs below, and whatever else you find interesting about them of course. Just remember to keep it civil and friendly, like always!

I've always loved the Cutie Mark Crusaders Song, so that one gets my vote! It's very catchy, one of the few rock songs in FIM and I even enjoy Scootaloo's vocals despite their imperfections. One of my favorite songs in the series, even if that's quite an unpopular opinion.

Cool! I agree to some extent. The background music is amazing, and of course like the episode itself hinted not too subtly, if they'd switched their positions with Applebloom doing the set, Sweetie singing, and Scoot doing the fancy moves, it would've been EPIC.

But then again, if that happened, where would be the friendship lesson, right? 

Still one of my favorite songs though, like you said.

 

PS. Did y'all know that the first time they recorded the song, Madeleine Peters (Scoot's voice actress) actually sounded way too good so she had to actually try really hard to sound bad in the next few takes. I heard singing with such a raspy sound actually took her voice out for a week before she could do Scootaloo's voice (Or her own, for that matter) normally again.

I like both songs but I gotta go with the CMC one because it's a train wreck and I love it. They could've done any style of music for them here and the result would've been the same honestly. It sends me every time I watch that scene.

I had no idea about this but I can tell from the final result they wanted her to sing kinda on key but also kinda not.

Even funnier is that they could've used tools to purposefully make those vocals slightly off since the tools available were good enough to do that even during that time, just gotta make it sound "bad" instead of "good". Would've saved everyone the trouble.

I guess they wanted the authentic experience

@Aurora876 I'd truly like to respond to your survey but I cannot... 

I don't really appreciate music, for me it's just something to make movies more exciting but I rarely like a song enough to listen to it for fun. For a reason I don't understand, people are shocked every time I say that I mostly dislike music. However, there are a few songs that I really like in MLP, like the Spectacle. Misfortunately, I feel nothing at all when I listen to the two songs in your survey.

I hope you understand my decision to not choose a song. Also, I'm glad you're trying to get more involved in this community by this thread.

My vote is for the CMC song. It's so bad, it's good. Pinkie's song almost got Appleloosa desroyed, so uh, not really a hard pick.

Hey, that's totally fine! I had no idea that music didn't interest you, but I guess now I do. Even though it's a trait a lot of people might view negatively, I don't. It's just part of what makes you such a unique and wonderful person.
