Like i said i will give it a chance, i don’t think everything after the movie is terrible as there are several episodes I did like, so thank you for informing me i will check it out as for surpassing season 1 for me, honestly that is going to be unlikely sorry.

 

Ghoul Fools, Planet of the Jellyfish, Sweet and Sour Squidward, and numerous other episodes could've EASILY fit into Season 2, let alone Season 1.

Me and my sister used to be obsessed with it, my mum and dad too.   It was great because it was something we could all watch together as a family, which was quite rare because I refused to watch most things my parents enjoyed. 

I must buy seasons 1 2 and 3 on DVD sometime. As for the newer ones, it's just not the same character and the writing has become sloppy and gruesome. Definitely should've ended at the movie.

SpongeBob was originally aired on a Canadian tv channel called Y-Tv years before America got it, or something along those lines

the original intentions for the show was to cater to the "gay adult audiences" believe it or not, lol

but the show is good, and has its halarious moments

Spongebob was my go-to show when it first started, and the movie was one of my favorite things Nick has produces, but unfortunately the series just tanked from season, and I pretty much gave up on the show by the time BEST DAY EVER aired. Albeit, they usually do have a gem to air every now and then

Well, listen to what a few friends and I are doing for a fundraiser event.

 

Our drama teacher has made it a priority to get acts for this event, and said we can do anything and try out.

 

Well, we decided to do something amazing.

 

We made an entire skit revolving around the song used from the episode where Mr. Krabs loses Spongebob in a poker game, and goes to work with Plankton.

sometimes ill watch that show, but mostly thats my baby sisters favorite show. she watches it all the time, but sometimes i get a little sick of it.

 

I'm basically repeating what others have already said, the show was amazing and I loved it when I was a kid, but after the movie I just cannot watch it. Here's a clip from season six and I'm warning you now, it is gross.

 

ive seen that episode of that, and i cant even watch that part, cause its so gross!i dont even know why they'd put that on a childrens show.

Well, considering how long it lasted, I'd say Nick's doing something right with the show. Is it as great as when I was little, as in, the early 2000s? No. Is it good when you consider that they have different writers now, is trying to please the new generation, and is one of the few cartoons that Nick has left that it actively pays attention to? Sure. Spongebob is Spongebob, even if the show is a bit different now then the majority of us were introduced to initially. All I can say in the show's defense, is that it's not trying to make episodes for the teens and adults that first watched the show, it's making episodes for the kids who are the age now that we were when we first watched the show. The only complaint I have is directed toward Nickelodeon itself, if it even uses that name anymore, but that's for an entirely new topic.

 

In the end, Spongebob isn't as bad as people think it is. I watch both the old and the new episodes, and while I think the old ones are better because its jokes had a more subtle charm that I didn't appreciate when I was little, the new episodes have a sense of humor that appeals more towards the new generation of kids. In which case I say, hey, at least it's better than Fanboy and Chum Chum.

I've seen some of the episodes from the last few years and I guess I just don't understand how people think it has gone downhill.

 

One of the episodes even had Squidward getting a friend that played the bassoon. The bassoon! That's my instrument! The episode = automatically awesome.

Basically, the show has it's episodes now, but overall it has dropped in quality after 2004.  It has come back a little, but it's in no way the same show it was.

Well, it's certainly an entertaining show! I still watch it from time to time, if I can catch it.  Some of the episodes still make me laugh, even when I know already what's going to happen.  I actually only began watching it with my little brother when he was much younger.  Now he's 11, and pretty much stopped watching all of that stuff, and I continue to watch it here and there lol.  Such a twist. D:

Who watches this? Personally, I love this show. Seasons 1, 2, 3, and the first half of Season 4 were amazing, and now Season 8 is truly matching that standard. It took almost three and a half seasons for the show to get back on its feet, but it is and I GREATLY suggest watching it if you gave up hope on it.

i dont watch it anymore. I watched it when i was a kid ,but not anymore. Havent relaly gotten into it and ive heard the newer seasons suck.

Good lord! That clip reminds me of those "Spengbab" drawings that I ran into a while back. I'm sure a little kid would get a kick out of those faces. I know I would've, seeing as how Ren and Stimpy was one of my favorites.

The golden years for spongebob was from 1999-2003 and I loved watching Spongebob then. After the movie however I think spongebob lost its charm and since then I always watch the old episodes.... But I have not checked out any of the the newer episodes so I cannot say much.

That was a single downer episode from Season 8, and every season of every show has a downer episode. I would like to point you to the highpoints: Ghoul Fools, Eek! An Urchin, Planet of the Jellyfish, Home Sweet Rubble, Sweet and Sour Squidward, Mermaidman Begins, InSPONGEiac, Karen 2.0, The Krabby Patty That Ate Bikini Bottom, Little Yellow Book, and various other Season 2-quality episodes from Season 8 and 9.

Yeah, Seasons 5-7 were absolutely horrible. However, Seasons 8-9 have been amazing so far. Check out my previous post and watch the newer episodes, they're Season 2-quality.

Man, I loved spongebob. It's not even funny anymore. I noticed in 2006 it started to bore me. So I just quit watching.

But I can still watch the old legendary episodes. :3

this show was probably one of the funny shows when it first came out. but when they decided to change spongebob's laugh and put in some references like the illuminati to just being plain out pointless. but yes seasons 1 2 3 where great.
