for me it would be The Woman In Black, Dead Birds, and The Decent were all pretty freaky the last two weren't as clever as The Woman In Black but they still made me jump allot, and ya I don't really have good taste in movies

I don't really think many moves has scared me at all. I watch way too much horror to even react anymore.

"Rosemary's Baby" is a classic creepy horror movie. It doesn't really scare me anymore as it did long ago when I first watched it, but that is because of the reason I said a few lines up, I watch way too much horror to even react anymore. I remember that The Strangers scared the shit out of my little sister when I showed it to her. Haha!

 

The movies [REC] and [REC]2 scared my friends alot when I showed them. We sometimes have horror movie nights where I fix the movies since they know I have over 1000 horror films and know what scares them and what is good. Haha

 

Oh by the way, if any of you ponies wants to ask me about horror movies I gladly help! I have seen the most stuff.

The Experiment (inspired by the Stanford University Prison Experiments) was psychologically horrifying for me and had me think about the essence of the human mind and its tendencies to self-destruct.

I've heard The Exorcist is the rated the scariest movie in film history. I have not seen it, though.

Child's Play is the reason my little sister, to this day, is still scared of dolls (she turns 15 in a few days).

I enjoy a good horror flick, so not much scares me. Though I do remember the recent Chernobyl Diaries had a very horrifying setting. The setting is what truly made the film. A post-nuclear radiated Ukraine that has been abandoned by society,

Wow, you guys need to Netflix / You Tube some of the classics! Try The Exorcist (the original), The Shining, The Omen, It, Psycho. Not that is really anything wrong with some of the offerings today, but in a world that had no real special effects, they had to rely on the story and the suspense. Too much nowadays they rely on scare tactics and gore.

I would have to say the Ju-on Grudge and paranormal activity. Those two movies made me a pretty paranoid person when it comes to demons and evil spirits. Sometimes I find japanese horror movies scarier than the ones in america, then again the last part of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was just bloodcurdling.

Yeah many people rates The Exorcist as the scariest movie ever because of the simple reason that they DO NOT WATCH MANY HORROR MOVIES and they have heard from others that it is so scary. The Exorcist is not scary at all. It have just gotten it's lame rumor to be so scary. The movie is good though so you should definately check it out. It's a film everyone should have seen.

 

The rumors with The Exorcist is pretty much the same that happened with the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". To explain what I mean here I'll tell something that happened in Sweden. The movie was originally released 1974 in USA, but it wasn't shown in Sweden until 2000. Why? Because of "Chainsaw Massacre" in the name, people thought the movie were going to be super-brutal and full of blood and gore. (Which isn't the case since it only contains one "bloody" scene where a guy cuts himself) Anyways, without even watching the movie themselves, the persons who decided which movies that would make it to the cinema, said that it "was too brutal" to be Shown in the theatres. After the theatre-ban people started to make rumors that it was the most disgusting movie ever and etc. After just some days hte movie got banned in the whole country. This happened in alot of other countries too. The rumors spread across the world and the movie were banned everywhere. Heck, look at the UK, they didn't get the movie until 2010. After some years in Sweden people started to get their VHS verisions of the terrifying movie. They thought - because of the rumors - that the movie were going to make them shit themselves. But no. They got disappointed because it wasn't what they had heard.

Well I should have posted those along with alot of others if this thread was "greatest horror movies". But this thread is about the scariest and honestly I don't find any of them that scary . They are very good movies though. The Exorcist is for me one of the most overrated horror movies ever. It was good but not scary at all and I got sick of all "the power of christ.. blah blah blah"-talk. I get annoyed when movies has TOO much religion talk in it.

The Cell (2000)...very imaginative visuals, creepy antagonist

Ahhh, but the OP asked what was the scariest horror movie YOU have ever seen. That opens it up to personal opinion. Just because you don't find the Exorcist scary, doesn't mean nobody should. My wife for example is so scarred by that movie, she cannot even watch an advertisement for it without turning away.

I'm not sure if anyone here has seen or even heard of this movie. Its called "Abominable" It take place in I believe the Adirondacks or Catskills Mtns. Its about this guy who recently lost his wife in a ski accident. He goes camping with his nurse (he became handicap during the accident). Later the night his camp gets terrorized by a huge I sasquatch like thing (yes i know it sounds like a B-movie).

It actually was a good movie and I recommend watching it but you won't want to go outside for weeks even if you live in the city. I think its by Stephan King.
