movies/tv Scariest horror film you have ever seen

While I do think Halloween movies are good (I especially like the theme music), I just can't stand that big knife at all.. or any other horror movie that uses knives.

I can't decide my favorite horror movie, but one of the good ones I've seen is the entire Ju-ON: The Grudge trilogy.

Now I know they are not the best out there, but damn the movies scared the heck out of me. Especially every single time I heard that... one particular sound. *shivers*

I also almost watched "IT", but after seeing the trailer I couldn't. I just couldn't because the trailer itself terrified me.

Did someone call me?

Well, none of the newer movies have ever scared me. Like, ever.

Really one of the few movies that has ever scared was The Haunting. I mean, I freaking house that freaking creaks around like it can breath, sheesh. And I mean the one made in 1963, not the remake.

Though Rose Red comes in at a close second.

Your thread on favorite horror movies has been merged with another. Please use the search feature before starting a new topic to see if another already exists.

Thank you.

Mine is actually different. This one is asking about the SCARIEST film; mine is asking about favorite horror move. Not all horror is even made to be scary. So these are two totally different threads. So if I could have mine back; that would be great. sleep.png

Bump.

Grave Encounters is probably one of the if not the scariest movie I've ever seen. Seriously, if you get scared easily, I would advise you to NOT watch it. It starts out pretty slow, there are even a few intentionally funny scenes at the beginning. But holy fuck does it get scary as hell.

I watched it on Wednesday in broad daylight, and I've had nightmares each night since. I'm not even kidding.

I'm seriously debating over whether or not I wanna watch the sequel.

But all in all, it's a pretty good movie, and the whole point is to be scared, and it accomplished that.

As much as I love horror movies, I'm a big chicken, so there's a lot of movies that scare me.

But if I had to narrow it down, the three most terrifying movies ever (for me) are The Thing, Ringu, and The Fly (body horror really gets to me, for some reason).

The scariest individual scene ever is the finale to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Seriously.

I would say The Blair Witch Project. Don't watch it. NOT EVEN IN FULL SUNLIGHT

No, really. I was watching it with some friends and in the end everyone had escaped except two of us. Its just horrifying.

Oh come on. For a horror film It wasn't THAT scary. The ending does give you shivers though.

To be honest, there has never been a film that I would truly call the scariest I've ever seen. But if the film that the OP described truly is that scary then bring it on!

I think the last movie I saw that actually had me tensed up and peeking between my fingers was when I watched The Strangers while I was left home alone for a whole weekend about 3 years ago. Did not sleep that night.

Well then, IF you liked the film then I would recommend seeing The Purge when it comes out. Kind of like The Strangers. And yes, your post reminded me of this film so I guess I would pick this as the scariest I've seen.

Ok first off two movies that scare the living shit out of me are IT and The Thing. I hate clowns and storm drains. The idea of something taking over your body terrifies me.

The movie that bothered me the most for the longest time was Alien (1979). Dear god is that movie terrifying. I think facehuggers are the worst, not to mention a creature breaking though your chest cavity. I'm pretty sure they were the first to say that in space no one can hear you scream.

I've always avoided horror movies like the plague, being jumpy and fucked up enough as it is, but one of my friends is a big fan of them, so i've ended up watching The Descent 2 and Sinister with him. I think Sinister is so far the scariest film i've seen, but to be honest neither of them affected me all that much. Watching playthroughs of the SCP games and reading stuff on the SCP Foundation website has scarred me far more than movies, seriously.

I saw Sinister in the cinema, and it stayed with me for a while after. The Woman in Black was also really scary, but didn't stay with me as much since the fear was mainly jumpscares (the story was very powerful though, and I almost cried at one part).

Special mention probably goes to The Hole (2009 film). It's only a 12, and it's meant to be a children's horror, so imagine the surprise of my friend and I when we went to see it in the cinema and that freaking toy clown showed up. Watching it a second time though I was just able to enjoy the story, humour and the adventure elements - in fact I'd definitely recommend it; even if it doesn't scare you it's a very enjoyable film.

For me, the scariest movie ever wasn't a horror movie. It was a documentary on child abuse with interview with peoples who were abused when they were child. I had nigtmares for a few days after watching it... I think it's because unlike horror movies, everything was so very real... As for horror movies, they never scare me and I watch them because I'm a closet sadist and I like to see the jerkiest characters die painfully...

Eh, I used to be a huge fan of horror films, though they kind of lost their charm with me

I remember when I was a big fan of them I used to love The Ring and Insidious

As well as The Exorcist, but yeah I don't watch them very often anymore

I kind of understand that, especially since there hasn't been a huge amount of truly good ones recently.

I enjoyed Insidious, even the parts I thought were a tad cheesy. And I do like The Ring, but I actually found Rings, which is a sort of in-between mini fifteen minute movie that takes place in between The Ring and The Ring Two, to be better than both main movies.

Really? I can't say I've seen any of the Ring films, but I found Insidious incredibly boring. The scariest part was the opening credits, and possibly the ghost family that always smiled. I watched it rather late with two friends and all of us fell asleep at various points.

Of course, Sinister had the same people behind it and that scared myself (and those two friends) silly. XD

I can't claim to have seen many horror movies, and those movies that I have seen are often disturbing, gory and plain disgusting, rather than being genuinely scary.

But "The Ring" scared the living hell out of me, perhaps because I saw it when I was 5 years old

Yeah, I love The Strangers. The thing I like about it is that if you haven't seen the cover or trailer of it (which I had not when I first watched it) it will be much better. Though from what I've seen it looks like the Purge will already reveal that some people will break in and stuff in the beginning :/

Well then that's a bit of a bummer. I remember I stepped off a train a few years ago and right in front of me there was a massive billboard advertising The Strangers and Iater in the day I saw the ad on TV. Ha ha. And yeah, The Purge's trailer kind of showed a bit too much in my opinion. I mean, some people were also complaining that they basically saw the whole movie by watching the trailer lol. But still, the idea does seem quite interesting. Can't wait till it comes out.

I didn't find Insidious to be scary as well, there was a topic on what's your favorite horror movie and it had gotten merged with a topic on what's the scariest film you've seen.

And I might as well answer the new topic question, by saying that I haven't been scared by any movies at all. I'm not trying to sound like a tough guy here, but really though, so far nothing that I've watched has ever really been scary. Horror movies are either too repetitive or predictable.

For me, it was Alien, when I saw it for the first time. I was fourteen back then, but from there on, no film really scared me. I remember the Saw-hype among my classmates, watched it one time and was totally bored. Cheap try to scare us with gore... really.

I guess I would only be scared by a horror-movie-scenario if I was in one in real life.

Insidious wasn't boring for me, it might just be a difference in tastes. But I did find it really cheesy at some parts, especially at the end, so there's that.

Yes, I'd have to agree with you, that is the most horrifying scene ever.

I hate horror movies so much, so I don't watch em very often, but I've scene Sphere, thats pretty freaky
