So I got to thinking...despite your age you answer may be different...perhaps it is what you grew up with

But what is your favorite musical decade and why?

It's cliche because I grew up with it...but the 80's...by a long shot

If I were to do a list I would go

1. 80's

2. 70's

3. 60's

4. 50's

5. 90's

I loved the go go and happy lifestyle in the 80's and it reflected in the music...the music has pop and happiness infused in the notes...and I love it!

I voted for the 70's because I'm experienced. But I am now starting to come back to my '80's as I hear more songs being played.

They didn't have much electronic music back in the 70's. I rarely listen to anything other than UK Hardcore and that genre bundle, but when I do, I listen to either classical music, or 50's and early 60's music.

well im gona give honorable mantion to the 40's and 50's because if it wernt for jazz there would be no metal, which is why i'm voting 80's METAL it fast its loud and its heavy and it was at its height in the 80's with Iron Maiden, Metalica, Motorhead and many many more

I will have to choose the 90's

The 90's had the very good rap, UGK, A Tribe Called Quest, OutKast, Dr. Dre and the likes. It also had awesome rock, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, The Offspring and Rage Against The Machine to name a few. The 90's also have one of my favorite EDM groups, Daft Punk.

'80s by far. The pop was happy and spunky, and it still hadn't lost its innocence yet. The hard rock and glam rock scene had some amazing "big," "stadium" sounds that had a presence like nothing today has. They even had power ballads back then that just don't exist anymore. Also, the early digital sound of electronic music had a certain nighttime feel about it that just seems timeless today. Take a drive through a city at night with '80s synthpop on the stereo, and you'll feel like you're driving a Ferrari in downtown Miami--you just can't go wrong with it.

60's and 70's, for me. Progressive/Jazz Rock and Soft Rock being the reasons. Late 60's and early 70's were the best!

*awkawardly shrugs* I don't really have a favorite time period for music. All music is different, all music is special in it's own way. I listen to things from the 50s, I listen to things from the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, and the 2,000's. To pick a favorite time period would almost be kind of like disrespecting all the other music.

But that just might be because I was never around to experience each decade of music in it's prime.

As much as I love every kind of musical decade for every single reason (the 50s had motown, the 60s had early rock, the 70s classic rock, the 90s had trance), I am a real sucker for the 80s.

I mean don't get me wrong, I love EVERY musical decade and wish there was an all of the above, but if I had to pick one, it would be the 80s. Because I am a total sucker for the 80s synth sound, the early electronic from bands like Kraftwerk, and of course the birth of videogame music back when it wasn't actual studio recordings.

The 90's for me. Lots of great bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chias, Radiohead, Oasis, Pavement, Mudhoney (started in the 80's) and many others. I also like 80's underground bands like Sonic Youth, Pixies, Fugazi (they got bigger in the 90's), Hüsker Dü, Black Flag and Social Distortion.

The Jazz age.

1920's.

I also dig the 60's quite a bit. All the decades have their good movements that I can appreciate.

Also, new OC (it has a cutie mark this time!).

90's all the way. Even more than the double rainbow. I listen to anything 90's. For example:

1. I've Seen Better Days - Citizen King

2. What I Got - Sublime

3. Wonderwall - Oasis

Those are just a few of my favorites. Listen to those while watching MLP, and you just might die.

If I really had to choose, I'd go with the decade we just passed. It's been so much easier for great bands to release their music. Underground scenes have pretty much anything that you could possibly want.

80s would be a close second, for all the thrash metal and power metal bands, as well as the NWOBHM.

70s comes in third, sixties in fourth, and the 90s running up the rear.

Anything pre-1966 is not my favorite.

It'd be hard to pick a favorite. A lot of bands I like span multiple decades, and some were around when some weren't. But if I were to pick one of many, I'd say the 90's. That's where Meshuggah really started to take off, Deftones started, plus post-rock really started taking off then.
