Okay, let me ammend my previuos statement: I do not approve of Homosexuality, but I do not have the right to stop you from doing it. However, Freedom of speech dictates that I have a right to express my opinion. I am aloud to tell you that Homosexuality is wrong, but I am not allowd to tell you 'stop being gay or else'. in the end, you are going to do what you are going to do.

The problem here is that by you expressing that freedom, you take away someones else's freedom to defend themselves. You are basically saying that ''I have a right to look down upon you'' but I don't have a right to stop you and by you standing up for yourself that infringes on my right to look down upon you. Some people can't handle the thought that they are looked down upon because of how they were born, and sometimes all it takes to push them over the edge is someone feeling the need to tell them they are not excepted. You are correct that you have a right to express your opinion, but sometimes ''What is right'' should not outweigh ''What is moral''.

The fact that the book he gave us for guidance practically spits in the face of our freedom in which he died for. If god loves us all equally then that would me the gays should NOT be looked down upon, even by him, yet they are. I'm sorry but that does not display forgiving, why would he allow a murderer to atone for their sins and go to heaven but then turn around and expect  people (that can't help who they are) to change for his convenience?

Before I was a christian I was controlled by worldly things that ruined my life! I was addicted to pornography so bad that I barly had any friends and it was only recently since I have known Jesus that I have been able to slowly stop watching it and actually be able to have good friendships with other people. I was controlled by sin, I was not free.

 

God does love everyone equally. No where in the bible does it say that he hates gays! He died for all of us so ALL of us could be in a loving relationship with him! And the entire church should be exactly like this, and treat all people with love and kindness.

 

Christians believe that sex outside of biblical marriage is wrong. But how many non gays have also had sex outside of marriage? Even me looking at pornography is purity much just as bad. We are all sinners and are all loved.

There's quite a significant amount of irony in this post. I'm not going to attack your beliefs or get into a religious discussion, but I ask that you at least make posts that are not self-defeating. i think this makes me hate people from churches a bit more  :okiedokielokie: why should they need to send stuff like this? but you have argued and thank something that isn't god that the church doesn't have as much power as they did 400 years ago or the church would probably make you hated through out you community .They shouldn't be able to do this it is wrong and just making people feel ashamed of what they are , well your church is not the best church around i avoid church most of the time , i don't like mine but yours is still worse i don't really go most of the time because i am still trying to decide if i believe in god or not so i just worship in private

Christianity for me is supposed to be a peace loving religion and if you don't agree with what they're teaching you or you are a bit different that's alright, BUT there's people like this who are judgemental and give my religion a bad name.

That's the problem though, your ability to express yourself in any manner, including looking at porn should not be a sin if it is not directly harming anyone. I see what you are saying and maybe I was a bit haste before, but I just don't understand why somethings in our modern age should still be considered sinful considering those laws were written nearly a thousand years ago. Times has changed, our perspectives are different now then they were then, so shouldn't such rules change as well?

So this is  great question.

 

Firstly I just want to say, pornography MASSIVELY hurts others. Not just my own life, but also the lives of those involved in the industry and the views of a society. So many people whoa re involved in pornography didn't get into it because they wanted to, and there are so many stories of girls being abused and forced to go way further then they ever intended just for someone else to "get off" to it.

 

But anyway, time has changed, however the problems we face today where just as prevalent when Jesus was around and even before that (well perhaps not the technology part). All through the last few thousand years and since Adam and Eve humans have been "sinning". That is why the bible is constantly talked about here on the forum and in society, rather then it being outdated (such as laws in the US which do silly things like ban doughnuts on Sundays) these are very relevant and still being talked about today.

 

But how can we trust a 1000 year old book?

 

Firstly, it is one of if not the most historicaly accurate books that exist. Compared to the original scrolls it is written off (and this is due to translational error as well) it is 98% accurate to things written thousands of years ago. Not only that, but there are over 140 000 supporting documents that support the bible but are not in it and most where not written by Christians at that time.

 

But how can we trust what others say? I mean I am just proclaiming about this "book" and about God and Jesus?

 

No you can never trust something 100%. Even as a Christian I am not 100% sure of it all, but I am sure enough to stake my life on it.

 

But let me just add, that if you where to buy a phone you would not just buy a random one would you? You would talk to people who have it and as them to proclaim about the phone or read a review of it to see if it was good or not and most of the time you would listen to them and follow there advice.
